Kind of false since they still serve the crown that is one of the largest drivers of conflict in the world.

It's true that we are rarely a nation that seeks out conflict, but with global resources being pillaged at an all time high, this survey isn't as telling as it leads us to be believe.

First off, I'm not sure who conducted this survey, nor does it really matter, these types of global surveys always have some type of prejudice involved.

Secondly, this survey could only speak to our limited military resources as a nation. Which in these ever maddening times, isn't something I'd like us to hand our hats on. With Russia ever infringing on our Northern Territory, and staking a claim to our resources, I don't think this survey is good for Canadians.

The focus of a survey such as this, should be the frickin' Middle East. With no sanctity on the horizon in that region, it doesn't look promising for society as a whole.

Actually, Canada tends to serve the United States and United Nations in wars.  England has as little rule over Canada as India.

The world would be a better place if there are more peaceful countries such as Canada.  Far better than having North Korea or Syria as your neighbours.

yeah if everyone were that peaceful we would all be speaking german or japanese. peace is not given, it is taken. dont forget that.

  If Japan and Germany were peaceful countries, there would have been no world war two.  Don't forget thousands of Canadian soldiers died to help allies win.  In 2011, world economy would be up by estimated  trillions of dollars if there was no war.

Canada actually had a higher percentage of deaths to population than the United States in WWII.   Props.

If I'm not mistaken Canada also entered World War II, much earlier than our neighbours to the south.

Also don't forget our contributions in Afghanistan, which per capita put us near the top of the list in fallen soldiers.

I just read some of the article linked by the OP, and I find it interesting that Denmark ranks ahead of Canada in peacefulness.

While I'm no scholar on Danish society, judging from what I've read on these boards and elsewhere, I've always thought that Denmark had a bit of war mongering in them. Weren't they one of the original countries pushing hard to bomb Libya last year?
