If you want to talk about ridiculous tariffs ...here's one.. The Thai tariff on motorcycles assembled in the United States is about 60%, according to Harley....President Trump is working to cut that tariff..

As a result, Harley said it was forced to cut excess factory capacity...cut factory capacity why again ?  Because of low sales..

The Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer benefited from the tax cuts enacted Jan. 1, 2018 then announced cuts of 350 jobs across the company in late January.Harley Davison started closing up factories here in the states years ago and out sourced work to Mexico and India and now Thailand.

16% of Harley's sales come from Europe. They were paying a 6% tariff which now goes to 31%. 

As far as Thailand, Harley moved production there as a result of Piggy's decision to leave the TTP. Tariffs on steel & aluminum hurt as well.

Jobs left the country along with this manufacturing plant.

BTW..the Asian Pacific region is a very small player in Harley's world.

Of course Harley took Piggy's tax cut. What corporation didn't?

I think a really long strike would be a great idea,” Trump tweeted, referencing Jeff Bezos, the Post's owner and CEO of Amazon. “Employees would get more money and we would get rid of Fake News for an extended period of time!”

When has a President encouraged workers to go on strike?

Trump is wrong in claiming other nations have been taking unfair advantage of US as a piggy bank.  He has a fundamental misunderstanding that the balance of trade is a profit and loss account.  That is, a nation lost money in a trade deficit. 

This is false because a trade account is more like a bank account.  It reflects the difference between what a nation saves and spends.  US overspends beyond its means because the dollar is favored as the world's reserve currency.  Actually, the world is the piggy bank paying for US borrowing of money at low interest rates.

Unfair that US buys more than what it earns and that some industries are heavily subsidized such as agriculture and hi tech.  Since tariffs are taxes that reduce demand, US gets a smaller trade deficit in exchange for higher prices and lower standard of living.  In worst scenario, tariffs trigger a worldwide recession and other nations stop lending to the US.

That's chicken feed ..President Obama has “the worst record of any president when it comes to putting America deeper in debt....Barack Obama added $9.3 trillion to the national debt..

When Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, the outstanding public debt totaled $10,626,877,048,913.

When Obama left office, outstanding public debt totaled $19,944,429,217,106......that's around 1.13 trillion a year,..where as President Trump has only increased the debt by 1.15 trillion in  over a 17 month period..
