Extra-marital affairs are the top concern for people that work in classified state. The reason is more simple than one would think.....generally speaking, one affair leads to more and enticing and provocative women are clamoring to use their <clearing throat>, 'charm' to obtain information.
The FBI would always investigate the CIA for obvious reasons.

I don't know if these "scandals" have much traction. Fast and furious obviously didn't hurt the president, he got reelected. I just don't see all the damage here . . .

There has to be more to this .... resignation effective immediately...
Unless someone threatened to expose the affair why would Gen Petraeous volunteer the info?
Lets see ... Conspiracy theory #1 : Petraeous called an end to the Benghazi cover-up and resigned after first telling his wife, to escape the black-mail hanging over his head......
If marital infidelity were grounds for dismissal, half of congress would have to step down. It was said by some during the presidential election that Petraeus was the person responsible for turning down the request for more security and troops in Libya. Perhaps he's falling on his sword to take responsibility for the killing of the American ambassador there.

It's Benghazi not pussygate that brought him down. Try to read between the lines a little. Benghazi was a complete stuff-up and the Ambassador there was a sacrificial lamb to Al Quaeda in Libya. You don't leave your consular staff and all the CIA staffers in that embassy outpost to perish at the hands of an angry bunch of Islamic militants. How do you as a CIA director look your co-workers in the eyes after such a debacle?

I understand that since you live in a country with no military secrets, the idea of security clearances is foreign to you. As I said above, almost all security breaches through the years have been the result of 'extra-curricular' activities. Just be thankful you live in a country where thanks to our protection, you don't need to worry about such things.
As an aside, I notice you have not returned to the thread where you attacked Obama for the drop in the dow, ignoring the 70% increase during his presidency. Perhaps you got sidetracked researching Canada's relevence to world history. It would be understandable. The other day, I spent 12 hours looking for a needle in a haystack.

Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to "stand down."

Cia operators were denied help during attack. Another FOX exclusive......

“The fact that he’s resigned and had an affair has nothing to do with whether or not he’s gonna be subpoenaed to Congress,” Gowdy said on Fox News’ “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.” “I hope we don’t have to subpoena a four-star general and the former CIA director, I hope he would come voluntarily, but if he won’t he will be subpoenaed and none of what has happened today is a defense to a subpoena.”
There’s no way we can get to the bot of Benghazi without David Petraeus,” Gowdy said. “While he might not be around next week because he’s got personal matters, the week after that and the week after that, this excuse will run stale.

Love triangle ?
wsj ..U.S. officials familiar with the probe said the Federal Bureau of Investigation began its investigation following a complaint from a woman in Florida about Paula Broadwell, Mr. Petraeus's biographer and the woman identified by officials familiar with the probe as having had an extramarital affair with him.

I am not a big fan of Glenn Beck because he can be just as radical on the right as those on the left but I do like he touches a lot of topics and the way he presents his past show on Fox was very interactive and not like any other show across any network. His prediction 2 weeks ago spot on.

House majority leader Eric Cantor talked to an FBI official in late
October about former CIA Director David Petraeus' involvement in an
affair, a spokesman for the congressman told CNN Sunday.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any weider it gets weider ''
A federal agent who launched the investigation that ultimately led to the resignation of Central Intelligence Agency chief David Petraeus was barredfrom the case ...the agency had questionable conduct —including allegedly sending shirtless photos of himself to a woman (Jill Kelley ) involved in the case.
Ms. Broadwell allegedly used a variety of email addresses to send the harassing messages to Ms. Kelley, officials said.

Why were the Democrats and Obama kept out of the dark about this affair while Republicans knew about it and said nothing until after the election?......Cantor must resign immediately...

Why was the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee kept in the dark ..why was the Director of National Intelligence kept in the dark until election day.......and if the president was also kept in the dark WHY ?...He is the Commander-in Chief ..why wasn't he informed till two days after the election ?
Was their negligence on the part of the Justice Department or were they kept in the dark too?
Things are going to have to come out of the dark on this one... the American people need to know ..when the Administration knew and when did they know it ?

WSOC TV and members of the news media knew the FBI was going to be there....and to have their camera's at the ready ..some one at the Bureau had to tip them off to insure good media coverage,,.
Same as when that guy who made the video mocking the prophet Muhammad was arrested at his house by the Bureau.. TV cameras were already there ready to photograph him being taken in,,.
Something smells fishy here, something about the whole deal smells fishy...
