The increase in minority representation in the House has largely come among newly elected Democrats. Of the 22 freshman representatives who are nonwhite, just one is a Republican (Rep. Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio, who is Hispanic).
In the full 116th Congress, the overwhelming majority of racial and ethnic nonwhite members are Democrats (90%), while just 10% are Republicans.
So much for your Southern Plantation theory.

[Quote:
Not so ..just the opposite .. you prove my theory..With the white plantation owners on the top of the Democrat ticket..the minority Representatives in the House fill the billet for the overseers and drivers needed for control..The Democrat Plantation is a concept carried over from the Southern slave plantations... this system relies on keeping it's members dependent,,,(in this case on the government)..and thus controlled by the owners on the top..
You pulled your back out with how far you are reaching. I can only speak for myself as a POC but I would never in a million years feel welcomed in today's Republican party. I know it's hard for Republicans to admit but it's really a party for white folks. If they would admit it, that would go a long way than the continuous disingenuous behavior they continue to tout. On the other hand, democrats do take advantage of the void left by Republicans non inclusion by trying their best to include POC. Both parties are bad and don't give a flying leap about average folks but one party does a better job hiding it. Being an independent is the way to go, you can vote for whomever you want and not be a " on " traitor.

(Quote reply was getting ridiculous)
Slim,
It really needs to get the point where you have a hard time remembering how many POCs were congress members at R's. A handful is not going to cut it, Republicans needs to punish those far fright fringes that believe white people are the only ones that matter. That would go a long way to recruit POCs to the party.
When I was growing up, my dad was a member of the republican party in a small town in central Illinois. After he ran for office under the R tag and got no support due to the racism, he ran as a D and got all the funding he needed to run his election. Granted, this was like 25 years ago but you get my gist.

Slim,
He did not. There is a reason he was a Republican for a long time before switching. We lived in a heavily red city. =)
He just wanted a shot as an R and they didn't think having a black face would sit will so...

What was crazy was the position he ran for wasn't that political of a position, it was just for the county auditor. I didn't really know about the racism bit until I got older as he explained why he switch parties. I don't know if things have changed in my hometown, I barely visit these days only to see him since he's the only one still living there. Getting a degree and a fancy job doesn't make people forget you are black for the most part, they just wonder how you got there.
