I am not a trump supporter nor am I Jewish and I choose not to get myself all worked up over something someone posted on the Internet.   
We have spent 8 years of people calling Obama hitler and bush before that.  In bigger picture of the context of 21st century politics calling someone hilter is common.  While I may not agree that Obama is exact same as hitler as we have heard for 8 years or that trump is the exact same as hitter,  I think that people make these comparisons and I don't get offfended to extreme levels because I have heard about Obama being hitler for 8 years and bush before him and have kind of tinned it out. 

If anything what is most offensive to me is the biased selective outrage and drama about the whole topic and then people wanting to be taken seriously.   

If anything the net effect of Obama being called hitler for 8 years, bush before him and trump presently is that is has improved hilter's image by saying Obama/bush/trump are exactly the same.

DL, it is not my recollection that Obama, or any politician before him, has been compared to Hitler as often, or as aggressively as has been Trump.

To be honest, I heard Obama referred to with a plethora of negative terms, but don't ever recall 'Hitler' being one of them. 

You referenced "selective outrage" regarding this topic.
I haven't really seen much of that either.

I can only speak for myself that I pointed out it is in very bad taste. 
Personally, I'm not outraged by it. I am completely unfazed by it. But I will still post my opinion of it. 

If someone called Obama a n!$&*r in here, they would be dealt with.
Personally, I don't use that word, nor do I refer to anyone as Hitler.
One of those words seems more offensive than the other, but the word I am referencing is not the same word that the media has told us is now forbidden

Intellectually dishonest but I am not surprised. Obama has been compared to nearly every vile person in history (Mao, Hitler, Stalin, etc.). 

Using an adjective like the n-word as some kind of comparison to the connotation of a modern day person to a historical figure is apples and oranges. 

But then again, you must know this.

Intellectually dishonest? DJ, that would be intellectually inaccurate. 

I will paraphrase my post (obviously the original phrasing was misunderstood) ... I was succinct is saying that I had heard Obama called many negative terms/words. I was equally specific in saying "I DON'T RECALL" when writing about Obama being compared to Hitler.
I made reference to my PERSONAL RECOLLECTION twice.
DL has provided proof that my personal recollection was wrong, but that does not change the fact that it was my personal recollection.

I find it interesting that the vast majority of people in this forum seem to be incapable of reading a post from someone whom they have a preconceived notion of as having a different opinion than their own, and then not misunderstanding, or misrepresenting what that person wrote. As a result of this, any ongoing dialogue becomes impossible. 

I acknowledge that your analogy of apples to oranges is justified.

I honestly was not aware it was so rampant.

DL, I do not misremember anything intentionally. I do my best to refrain from hyperbole and rhetoric. With the exception of Scalabrine, I rarely say things to incite, although I'm well aware that some of my opinions expressed in here seem to upset the left. That is unfortunate, as well as curious, as my opinions don't come from the aisle on the right. 

It's a sad reflection on us as a country when people are so quick to compare anyone to a man who is widely recognized as being one of the most evil people in history

Stating that anything is based on personal recollection or personal interpretation is obviously understood as all argument, albeit based on facts, is one's own slanting of said facts. 

For example, when you call HRC a crook, you don't say "IMO" or "my personal feeling is" because it is understood that you think HRC is pure evil, that Trump is fantastic, that Dems are vile, and that Repubs walk on water. All of those are your own personal beliefs. We get it. 

It is somewhat ironic and continually intellectually dishonest that you make statements like "my opinions don't come from the aisle on the right.: 

That is a debate technique designed to make the reader view your perspective as more objective and reasoned. The problem is the proof isn't in the pudding. If it were, show me one post where you have advocated a position of HRC/Obama or disparaged one generally held to be in the rubric of 'Republicanism.' 

As for the comment above, the reality is I don't believe you. You are actually fairly well read and can be articulate so feign outrage about the comparison of Trump to Hitler, whilst simultaneously denying the same comparisons about others (mainly those on the the other side of your 'isle') is amusing at best. 

As for the suggestion that my response was a result of preconceived notion, you have no idea where I stand on the issue and what I have said in the past. As someone who has traveled the world, including Germany, former concentration camp sites, ghettos, and WWII monuments, I can say unequivocally that our worst leaders are nowhere near the persona that was Hitler. That includes Obama, Trump, Nixon, HRC, etc. 

Certain politicians may play into nationalism, race-baiting, stereotyping, etc. that permeated the rise of Nazism which was also altruistically nationalist in nature. But that is a distinction from a direct comparison.

Which I don't know is a joke considering how often Obama
was called hilter by so many. 

But your original statement was that you don't ever recall
Obama being called that. I'm not sure if you're serious about

showing the 8 years of Obama being called hilter, did 
it jog your memory at all?  

I mean, do you watch Monday night football or keep up with
current events? 

Can you tell me any instances of Obama being called hilter?
Or was that list all news to you?

So let me get this straight, when it comes to hitler comparisons 
you get extremely outraged about trump, you remember bush,
But don't ever recall Obama being called Hitler.

I am usually careful when writing, and try to note the difference between my opinions, facts, and what I believe to be facts.

I believe it to be a fact that HRC is a crook. (i won't bore you with details, but I can if you wish)
It is my opinion that she is a vile b!tch.
I believe it to be a fact that Trump is a narcissist and beyond obnoxious.
It is my opinion that he is not worthy of being POTUS.
It is a fact that I have NEVER suggested otherwise. 
It is a fact that my close friends, who are overwhelmingly conservatives, are convinced that I'm a liberal. 
It is my opinion that this election year is a low point in the political history of this country due to the two candidates being who they are.

I defended Obama in the past, particularly while he was running for his 1st term. I believe he was wide eyed and had good intentions. He was simply too naive to understand the complexities and evilness of the machine that is american politics.
I do not support Obama today. That is a direct result of his policies, and nothing more.

Today I vehemently denounce Obamacare. This has nothing to do with politics, it has everything to do with the fact Obamacare cost me an additional $18,000 last year alone. That amount is certainly going to go up. I fully expect to be paying $3,000 per month for health insurance within a year or two if Obamacare is not repealed. This year I am at $2,600 a month (this number includes my deductible which I met) 

Lastly, my comment of "preconceived notion" was not directed at anyones political beliefs or experiences, it was directed at ALL people with strong political opinions. When someone has them, they tend to make assumptions as to another persons written word, and oft times misinterpret what is being said. This goes both ways, and is the main reason why there is never any ongoing intelligent dialogue in here.

I have honestly tried to exchange comments with a good number of posters in here sans accusations and insults. Most tend to just ignore me. I'm not sure if I should be flattered or insulted

I am not sure what you are trying to do here or

was pertaining to your statement that you never recalled

No worries Hugh, this type of communication over the Internet is common for misunderstanding and that is why you see my posting style is often to ask questions about statements someone has made for clarification.   

Also I think people have the right to change their mind and their view through civil dialog and no need to re-write or be held to anything posted in the past.  Through intelligent conversation. I have changed my mind on or thought differently about issues and events when exposed to the ideas and perspectives of others.  Both in real life and on this site. That is the beauty of a civil dialog the potential for growth and developed with an enriched perspective.

In today's PC climate...  why is it not racist to call someone with German ancestry “Hitler” ?

Trump has German ancestry.

Calling him Hitler is a form of "hate speech".....

Last year Obama’s Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, announced that the Department of Justice will prosecute and jail Americans that use “hate speech” against Muslims.

Why shouldn't Trump be afforded the same protection under the law as Muslims?  To be fair the U.S.AG needs to start prosecuting Americans that use racist "hate speech" against Donald Trump,, by using the Hitler comparison....

I had to think of how a us President become a dictator.
One scenario however implausible is in fact possible. It would take a huge play.
Create and promote a urban centers nation wide riot. Suspend all civil and constitutional liberties in a national invokation of Marshall law deploy regular miltary in a illegal immigrant action program and neutral political opposition. Creating security initiatives.
