In 2016 election, Trump lost popular vote and won electoral vote with slim margin of victory. Trump appears unlikely to win popular vote again. Rare for presidents to lose popular vote and win electoral vote. Previously, voters may have given Trump the benefit of any doubt. Now after 3 years, Trump won't have that advantage because they know him better. So far, 2020 election appears more competitive. As Biden appears to be ahead in most swing states according to early polls.
