If you're one of the unlucky one's who have to rely on Medicare and Medicaid, don't vote in a Republican because they want to get rid of it and have you to pay for everything. If you are already disabled and have permanent health problems that keep you out of work, you better vote in Obama. I battle my own medical complications and work as much as I can just for the cash to help pay bills since my own disability check is worthless, but there's no ways to afford a better health care plan. One day too you'll get some sort of health complication if you don't already have it. That's just one of the several reason why I won't vote in a Republican.

Why should anyone else be responsible for your health condition? (and it's unfortunate that you have one)
I might be able to add a little info to this discussion. It's an important and interesting discussion
I have several friends who live in Europe...been friends with them for over 12 years.
They have a system that allows everyone to be treated for their injuries/illnesses, etc...however, the system doesn't encourage break-through medical treatments because doctors/hospitals are paid to make people better...not turn profits for their investors.
The theory behind offering affordable/low cost health care to everyone through a single payer (government) system is to make a more healthy society, and as a community take care of people who can't physically/mentally operate without assistance. If those people are taken care of, the society as a whole will be more healthy and productive. (that's the theory). However, they may not have the most up-to-date care for the extreme cases.
The theory behind having health care being an all private enterprise is that since the companies are rewarded for the best and most innovative care, they will make more money the better their services are, and improve the care. However, the care will only be for the people that can afford the insurance/health costs.
There also is a theory that if you live in one of those countries, and you get sick, you will die while waiting for care. Based on everything my friends have told me from Europe, that is not true. Care is provided to people if it is needed, and if someone is in a life threatening situation they don't get pushed to the back of the list, they are treated based on how serious their situation is.
As is most things, I'm sure the answer lies somewhere in the middle. I was frustrated that both Repubs and Dems couldn't come up with a good compromise with ObamaCare that took the best of both sides and implemented a system that took care of US citizens, but at the same time promoted innovative and profitable healthcare. Hopefully, in our lifetime we get a good/fair/affordable system that takes care of all of us.
