A New York court on Thursday suspended Rudy Giuliani from practicing law in the state, citing “demonstrably false and misleading statements” made while leading Donald Trump’s legal campaign to overturn the 2020 election.

The Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court wrote in a 33-page decision that there was “uncontroverted” evidence Giuliani communicated false statements to “courts, lawmakers and the public” while serving as the former president’s attorney.

“These false statements were made to improperly bolster [Giuliani’s] narrative that due to widespread voter fraud, victory in the 2020 United States presidential election was stolen from his client,” the court said.

A New York appellate court on Thursday suspended Rudy Giuliani's law license after finding he made "demonstrably false and misleading" statements about last year's election while serving as former President Donald Trump's attorney.

In a 33-page decision, the disciplinary panel wrote: "We conclude that there is uncontroverted evidence that respondent communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020."

Other lawyers that help support Trump may face penalties.  For examples, Powell and Wood.  Kaardal has already been punished.  Some have a harder time finding new jobs.  Normally for lawyers of previous administrations, working for white house provides career advancement.  However law firms may be distancing themselves from Trump lawyers.

Giuliani is lucky it is only a suspension for now. I am surprised that it was not a permanent ban from practicing law in the state.

It is crazy to see how far Rudy has fallen in supporting Fat Donnie. Sad he is now perceived as just another My Pillow guy.

There have already been multiple audits in many states.  No evidence of widespread fraud.  But disturbing that Trump supporters believe his big lie about stolen election.  Apparently, disinformation undermines democracy and trust in banana republics.  That is not supposed to happen in developed countries.

I don't watch CNN but I'm sure they lie all day , every time I try and watch CNN or MSNBC they bring up Fox so I just go to fox , I don't think I've seen more than 5 to 10 min's at a time on either station , I'm just guessing but I think I see 15 to 20 min's of CNN and MSNBC in a day.

New York court found that Giuliani engaged in so many unethical actions that he must be suspended to protect the public.  Suspension while under investigation is unusual and reserved only for the most serious misconduct.  He deliberately uses fraud to incite capital riot to undermine fair election.  First amendment doesn't give lawyers freedom to lie in courts.  After investigations, he may face more punishments.
