Great job politics people... Discussing real issues and not caring what a reality fabricator like beck says... I cant believe that people actually believe what he tries to sell...
Woop,
I agree that this may have some definitely political motivation for the president to us the war to detract from important issues... War time presidents also dont face accountability, which is what Obama needs right now...
But it is a formula that has been proven to work with starting war and military conflict to detract from what is happening at home... Although Obama might not be smart enough to draw the war out through out his presidency...

If there was no election next year the President would not have given permission for our military to fire missiles into Libya. Not now, maybe later. He wants a quick in and out so he can chalk up an easy win and look forceful and Presidential. It is not going to work that way, we are approaching another quagmire and he can't just shuffle this off onto NATO. IMO.

Exactly. Plenty of incentive to just become nothing. What is the point of paying for a 4 year undergraduate degree followed by medical school if you pay 40% tax? You start out $300,000 in the hole... have to buy a car, house, bills, family... and the next thing you know you are back to even 15 years down the road.
Who would want to be in the higher tax bracket when they could work half as hard and pay half the taxes and essentially be earning the same thing.
Well as you point out in many a thread....maybe everyone cant have a car, or buy a house (or a second car or a third TV or a Hawiian vacation). It works at all levels.

I think people who are collecting government money should be entitled to nothing but the absolute necessities. People collecting welfare having plasma televisions and high definition television is highly comical to me.

My guess is that there is one reason and one reason only... With elections coming up in a hurry... and gas prices soaring to record highs on a daily basis... Barack Hussein Obama is feeling the pressure...
Military action will only cause oil prices to go higher, not lower , so once again your " logic " flawed.
Let me guess, 15 years old ?

8) If the idea is to stop the brutalization of civilians—why not Sudan? Congo? Syria? Fill in awful situation around the world…
a LOT of people, left and right, asking THAT question. so it's OK to go after Kadhafi because he's a murdering asshole, terrorist and all around pain in the ass to the west BUT can't go after the dictators and "kings" that are our allies and trading partners?
damn good question!!!
Just because you cant help all doesnt mean you should'nt help as many as you can.

Who cares though. It would make me sad to think that someoene like CD or Sarasota or anyone else who regularly contributes could be booted for typing mere words. I think that the whole alias thing is a non issue.

Iraq and Libya situations are so unalike they may as well be on another planet. The reasons to intervene in Libya are many fold:
1. Libyan people want us to do it. 2. UN resolution and broad international consensus. 3. Arab world is not objecting to intervention. 4. There is more at stake now. The middle east is experiencing a 1989 style wave of democracy, if Gadaffi stays, the dominos could stop falling and the potential to put the entire region in the win column could be lost.
But the biggest and most important reason for starting the Libyan war (and make no mistake this is a war, it is not just a no fly zone, it is and should be, full on regime change) is:
5. It is an easily winnable war compared to Iraq. It will not require western ground forces, the coalition just needs to provide airstrikes to take out the heavy weapons, the rebels will do the rest as they did before (they took 70% of the towns at one point on their own.) Libya does not have the sectarian divisions that Iraq had between Sunnis, Shias and Kurds that led to that country's descent into anarchy because of the US failure to understand this and adequately prepare for nation building after the war.
Barring Gadaffi BS ceasefires- we will be in Tripoli celebrating inside six weeks. I am prepared to lay coin on this- so if any of you want to take the over on Gadaffi surviving let's see your money.
