But keep slapping each other on the back for another 50 messages...that seems to be working out nicely.

I didnt know that canning a bunch of FBI employees is akin to draining the congressional swamp, but maybe in Trump-ese this is the best he can do.

I would not consider this a GOP lovefest. Trump and Sessions are/were outside of the Republican Establishment. I personally would like to see Mcconnell and Ryan leave their positions of power within the Senate and the House. Why does the Left seem to be threatened by the firing? Maybe Comey crossed the Red line.

I keep thinking that if Hillary was elected instead of Trump the Republicans would be calling for a special prosecutor to look into the Clinton Foundation.  The Dems would be saying nothing to see here. Instead it is Russia and Trump and the Repubs are saying nothing to see here.

    Ya gotta love partisan politics.

Republicans virtually own the White House, Senate and House, so Trump can do whatever he wants to. James Comey won't be the last one gets fired by standing in Trump's way, plenty more yet to come. Stay tuned.

    Thank you for asking.

To be honest I was at work when I came across the news on the interwebs.

My first thought was it was a bad move on Trump's part. I've always worried that Trump would fire anybody that didn't agree with him. I can see how this looks bad and....maybe it is as bad as it looks...or maybe it isn't.

No matter how you fit on the political scale Comey is damaged goods.

He let Hillary get off on "Intent" when intent clearly is not an element of a crime with classified information. Mysteriously to me, there are several clues that DO show intent and anybody that knows anything about law MUST agree.

On the other side, everyone must agree that his announcement just days before the election caused some voters to stay home or vote the other side.

He also knew that Lorretta Lynch is and was out of line several times by allowing Bill to strong arm her on the tarmac. And also when she sent the letter proclaiming that she would provide political cover for Hillary no matter what happened.

I don't like the fact that Trump fired him but I do think it had to happen.

This firing is closely linked to Comey's role in investigating trump allies over links to Russia Interference in the 2016 election.

    Independent commission is needed
Comey was meeting with FBI agents in Los Angeles when he found out he was fired.

Trump is due to meet with Russian Foreign minister Sergey Larov Wednesday May 10 2017

The American Council for Civil Liberties has put out a statement on Comey’s sacking. Executive director Anthony Romero says:

The independence of the FBI director is meant to ensure that the president does not operate above the law. For President Trump to fire the man responsible for investigating his own campaign’s ties to the Russians imperils that fundamental principle. Regardless of how one judges the performance of James Comey in either the Hillary Clinton or Russia investigations, President Trump’s dismissal of a sitting FBI director raises serious alarm bells for our system of checks and balances. The terms of FBI directors were purposefully structured to span across sitting presidents to ensure the FBI’s independence and insulate the bureau from partisan politics. President Trump’s dismissal of Comey raises questions about the administration’s inappropriate meddling in bureau operations — precisely at a time when the bureau appears to be investigating the president, his advisors, and his campaign for potential collusion with Russian agents in our last election.”

Director Comey was out of control ..giving press conferences and making up his own rules.  Prosecuting Hillary Clinton publicly, but not recommending prosecution . Usurping AG Lynch in July 2016 to announce the Clinton emails inquiry should be closed without prosecution.  Giving inaccurate information about Hillary Clinton's emails to Congress last week

. Comey botched the handling of the investigation into her private email server....and based on his handling of the investigation the investigation should be reopened..

Comey intentionally withheld from the public that the FBI was investigating Trump's campaign but announced the FBI was continuing it for Hillary right before the election.  I've told people that Trump is the kind of guy who will stab you in the back unless you're a yes sycophant who lets him stick it up your ahole on a regular basis.  I don't really care about firing Comey because I never had any respect for a guy with zero integrity.  Of course, I do know Trump will replace him with someone worse so I suppose there's that.

Comey gets fired and everyone on the right swears it's a sign that he was in cahoots with HRC, and everyone on the left swears it's a sign that he was tying Trump wit Russia.

The investigation is a hoax. Waste of money. Nobody colluded with the Russians. Come on now. Take off the tin foil hat, and go back to searching for Bigfoot.

For some reason the media and liberals are holding out hope that Hillary might still get to be president. They can't let the election go. In reality, there's over 2800 more days of Trump, no matter what. They have nothing on him.

This entire thing was concocted as a lame excuse for the upset dems, to explain away to all her supporters, for why Hilary lost.  The Russian story is a hoax.

For historical purposes. The only other time an FBI director has been fired by the President was in 1993 when Bill Clinton fired Sessions just before Vince Foster was assassinated. He fired Sessions to insure that a shoddy investigation would be done and everybody would accept the lie that he killed himself despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

What do Bernie Sanders’ hair and CNN have in common today? They are both saying, “Comey” every time you look at them.

Good riddance dumbass. The times they are a changing.

    "Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Dont stand in the doorway
    Dont block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
    Theres a battle outside raging
It will soon shake your windows and rattle your halls
For the times they are a changing"

Let's START with ANYone who DOES NOT plunge into the D.C. cess pool without  strong, CONSTITUTIONAL principled convictions and willingness to not be easily diswayed by , unwarranted, hateful unrelenting vicious attacks...IE..Have a SPINE

That's why there is THE SWAMP in DC...it's full of amoebas and the like.... Full of creatures leaching off this FEDERAL monstrosity....and  it's so slimy and infectious, why would anyone dare enter...Takes a very courageous American to ever dare to wade(or slog)  through all that BS...AND still keep your own MORAL bearings despite all the non-stop criticism...

I'm all for TERM LIMITS...we will always need new fresh ideas and the youth which can make some organizations very successful,  quickly with the right leadership ...Kinda like sports teams...you gotta create the chemistry to have a SUCCESSFUL franchise or private bizness that runs smoothly like clockwork....

He was playing his best hand, especially as the cards being dealt were changing.

    1) He was asked in the hearings about utilizing the IRS to target conservatives and conservative groups, and he said, "....there was not enough evidence to show intent..."

    2) When asked about the misuse of classified information, he responded, "...there was not enough evidence to show intent..."

    3) Some of Trump's election committee members had contacts with Russian governement officials (not illegal, but was not fully disclosed). Yet, instead of disclosing transcripts of wiretapped phone conversations, he says, "....there was no willful intent to coordinate with Russian officials...." He also said, "There is no evidence the Russians sabatoged the election (through voting machines)...." But he allows the discourse and the liberal media to contunue their hyperbole and hyperventilation over Flynn's Russian contacts (in his job he had contacts with over 40 nations in the past 5 years).

    4) Regarding wiretapping, he knows that it was being done on the trump staff, and yet he says, "....there was no willful intent to wiretap the Trump team members, nor any connection to the former President...." Again, he is CONTROLLING HOW TO INTERPRET THE INFORMATION. He is playing both sides as a kind of strategy

The law is the law. INTENT is not in consideration during an investigation. He should not be playing Japanese Kabuki Theatre with all of these allegations that have serious implications.

He was utilizing information and deciding how to present it politically and strategically.

THIS (deciding how to use information/data/evidence) ERODES PUBLIC CONFIDENCE.

He does deserve to be fired for this. NO FBI Chief should EVER give the PERCEPTION that he is doing this. Yes, it does go on. Yes, it will ALWAYS go on. But these public cases were too much for Comey, and were showing that he was in fact DECIDING HOW TO PRESENT INFORMATION STRATEGICALLY (politically).
