This is where it gets real tricky for Republican presidential candidaters. Conservatives don't want to compromise. Republicans can't win with conservatives, do you think they have a chance without them?
Rush 51 is abslolutely right. It's a daunting task ahead. Right now, the Dems -130 in '16 looks juicy.

One more issue to address is guns. Before the Demos wouldn't touch this, as they didn't want to look weak to the gun lobby. But now they are tackling it head on. Will it backfire? That remains to be seen.

this country took a hard turn towards statism in the early twentieth century and never looked back. your left and right, liberal and conservative labels are meaningless in a world where the populace is too dumb to differentiate between the two.
we are living thru the most command economy the country has ever seen, and it most resembles fascism, which is a leftist virtue, however, i dont understand why you dems are cheering it on

14road, republicans have LOST 5 of the last 6 elections by popular vote. No matter how you spin the numbers or polls, it doesn't look good for your side.
perhaps people just dont like who the GOP feel best represent their views and who they are...
this includes conservatives as well as liberals...
doesnt mean that people have gone left-center... I would argue that people after clinton things shifted to the extreme right, making non-fox"news" propaganda rightwingers look moderate and independent thinking...
and then anything left of that was "liberal" and the "liberal media"...
but people saw what GOP leadership did to their country and went the other way... and ever since the only strategy the GOP has used is attacking and insulting obama... which preaches to their choir but turned off the moderates and independents... and it showed in the voting booth in 2012...
so I agree the problem is who GOP nominates... but I think that since 2008 they have completely fumbled their strategy over and over again... perhaps nominations is a part of the fumbling in strategy... but the party really looks in complete shambles and voters know it and go the other way...
and then blindly vote for obama who means well but really is not the answer at all either...

the gop are not conservatives and romney is not a liberal
most people are just statists, in that they are in support of the state, just some want to use it as a different kind of weapon against their particular neighbor
im for freedom, personally.
im with you on the freedom part and I think that is where you saw alot of people going the libertarian/freedoms route with supporting paul and johnson... I also think that the people are tired of both sides thinking bigger/stronger to facilitate their agenda...
I agree that romney was not a liberal... but he appeared to be less in line with conservative values, especially with o'romneycare....
But your statement that GOP are not conservatives seems pretty counterintuitive... what would call GOPs then?

The trend is definitely center-left in this country, and demographics play a large part, particularly the growth of Hispanics over the Years. Consider the following voting blocs voted overwhelmingly for O'bama ;
* Hispanics * Blacks * Single Women * College Educated Women
To us Republicans.. the trend is not your friend.
but why wouldnt hispanics support conservative values? as catholics who really value religion, you would think that they would blindly follow the theocratic party?
Why are hispanics so turned off by republicans? What have republicans been doing to turn off a group that really should be an easy sell?
And women?
Why would women oppose GOP? I mean GOP ran a woman in 2008...
I get that african americans would side with obama... but why would women be so against GOP? what are the GOP choosing to do in their strategy that is turning women off?
and college educated women that are less likely to need any government check and being in the 47%.... doesnt make sense...

One interesting exit poll during the election: The voters still blame George Bush for the economy more than Obama. Another, I don't think voters trust the GOP to be in charge of the military after the Iraq fiasco.

Lets not forget
- Asian Americans (small % but still voted strong for Obama)
- Younger voters

I know it's early and 14road doesn't pay attention to betting lines, but Bovada has a line on 2016. The Dems are -130, the GOP -110. After 8 years of a Demo, the GOP SHOULD win this one, if not, uh-oh.
Who do the D's have on their bench? Andrew Cuomo? He would not win a nationwide race after creating the Fannie & Freddie mess.
The R's have 30 Gov and a few high profile Senators.

Because they want the right to choose. They want equal pay for equal work, they want diplomacy before the sword.
And, They do not like weapons.

The "R's" do have a deep bench, but the "D's" have Hillary who trumps them all. And if the Republican Party continues to be unelectable, who cares how deep the bench is?

Hillary couldn't beat a rather unknown Senator who had zero accomplishments in a primary.
She is an unaccomplished, congenital liar, who will be 70 in 4 years.
Benghazi is Hillary's Chappaqquidick too.

Today Hillary Rotten Clinton said it didn't matter how the 4 died in Benghazi. If voters held candidates responsible B Hussein Obama wouldn't have been re-elected and that line would cost her in 4 years. Since the electorate doesn't care that line probably won't matter.

... Correct on the Younger Voters. Forgot about that voting bloc
Asians didn't represent a large enough contingent to influence the election.... Hispanics are a larger bloc, and they are reproducing at a faster rate than the Asians, too.

Most Hispanics are fearful of Republicans right now... Two words for you .. Immigration Reform. They voted almost 3:1 for O'bama in the last election.
DJ pointed out some reasons why college-educated women take to O'bama.. Equal Pay, the whole glass ceiling debate.. These tend to be the Feminazi's we all adore.

This goes back to the idea that the GOP completely fumbled their strategy to making obama a one term president...
All they needed to do was act like conservatives and sit back quietly and let his record speak for itself...
but instead they acted like liberals with crying and complaining about everything and anything... trying to fabricate BS and spin things negatively... so the the real things on his record got caught up in the all of the noise associated with liberal emotional outcry...
whether it was beck/palin having their farrakan million man march on washington... or making obama about a racewar and classwar... all their behavior is straight out of the liberal handbook...
once the GOP starts acting and behaving like conservatives they will start get this back on track...

See, when you have: 9% believing abortion should be illegal in all circumstances; 35% believing abortion should only be legal in the case of rape & woman's health; 23% believing abortion should be legal most of the time
That adds up to an overwhelming majority favoring abortion restrictions.

give me a break... GOPs dont have a deep bench at all...
name one candidate that was more electable then romney?
when you had people in the party seriously talking about donald trump as being a good candidate for president it is the equivalent of the coaching looking at his bench and conceding that he has absolutely nothing on his bench and asks the biggest loudmouth fan if he can suit up...

we all know where this is going based on history...
Covers knows
also who in their right mind is pro-abortion?
I am 100% anti-abortion personally, but also 100% pro-choice and freedom...
It would be funny to talk about how twisted and ridiculous your post was if it was not such a seriously flawed perspective on such a serious topic...
I would link you to photos of women, some of them working at Planned Parenthood, proudly wearing shirts that say "I had an abortion" but that would make you look silly.
So I'll just sit here and laugh at your threat to explain how "twisted and ridiculous your post was" which of course you can not, and will not do.
Want to guess why that is?
