This was tried in the late 19th century with The Ivory Coast. There were not a great number of takers. When people are 3, 4, 5 generations out of "the old country" they no longer feel an urge to go there. It is not "home" to them and never was.

A brotha friend of mine who's father was a Doctor and owned a plantation in Liberia. I think he was into bananas..anyway after my friend's dad died ,,,he showed me pics of the plantation, that he had inherited..quite large..he said it was worth millions..
Just as he was getting things set-up here,,,, so he could go over as the new owner.and check things out ...Indigenous people in the area took over the plantation and were in control of everything..and his millions he thought he was willed to him vanished..
If you are not direct people,of the land when you go there ...you will never be looked at as anything different....

I believe this is pandering but it would be interesting if a group of us citizens did expatriate themselves to that country.
A study could actually be formed with two sets of humans one stayed here and a generation passes one their with a generation passing and to assess who has a better quality of life.
Liberal proffessors from Penn State and Harvard would drool forghe opportunity to assess this model.
