How many viewers will the 1st. Clinton/Trump debate attract?

With so much at stake ,,the debate should attract millions and millions of viewers.

Will the debate viewership make it the most watched television program ever ?

Your predictions...over or under 100 million viewers ?

I'd venture a guess that the first debate will slightly top 100 million, and then have a precipitous drop thereafter. 

That drop will be the result of there being 2 very unlikeable candidates coming across as arrogant, delusional, and out of touch with the rest of society. (not unlike some mental posters in this forum) 

Having the 1st debate on a Monday night will keep a few million men from watching, as it competes with MNF. Although, ATL vs N.O. is not exactly a great prime time matchup

I'm going to put the game on mute on one tv and watch the debate with my second tv with the volume up. I predict it will be close to a 100 million. It's hard for me to say the over.

I don't have a line for it but I heard there was one for her fainting.  I think the choices were also cough and sneeze.

The desperate grasping to the health issue has become some what comical and maybe profitable for some

I agree with you about the Monday Nite Football not being a great prime time match-up  .,but it's still a MNF game ( with money bet) so I feel they should draw close to 10 million..this I feel will keep the viewers under 100M....

...............

2016 Super Bowl drew 112.9M..third-best audience in U.S. TV history.......and it was the only game in town..

i will continue my streak of never watching one minute of this debate or any other.  i will be watching the MNF game with a large bet on whichever team is released as the lockpick by Hugh Jorman Sports.

i will make my decision as to who won the debate based on commentary from slim and dl36.

Bet the Yes in the Debate Prop- Will either candidate be Horizonal during the 2 hours.

I will have to rethink my under call ..now that I hear that Trump has invited Gennifer Flowers, to the debate to counter Mark Cuba's Hillary invite... she said that she will attend Monday night’s presidential debate at Trump’s invitation.



If, she shows it has the potential of going north of 120 Million....

Looks like Hilary Clinton will regret trying to play mind games with Donald Trump,, like a Zen Master he will enlighten her on how the game is really  played ...........  Juanita Broaddick  who maintains that Clinton raped her in 1978, told HuffPost that Trump had not asked her to attend. “It’s a little late to make travel arrangements but it would be delightful to attend such an epic event. Maybe I will get an invitation to the next one"

According to Nielsen, 9 of top 10 debates had viewers audience in 62-69 million range.  So far, only Carter-Reagan debate reached 80 million viewers.

According to Bustle, debates rarely affect election results although poll numbers may change slightly.  Since 1960, there have been only 3 reversals in poll numbers of candidates after first debate. TV debates mainly target undecided voters.  But the majority already decided who to vote for.

Reagan/Carter debate US population in 1979   225.06 million..

Trump/Clinton debate US population Sep 1, 2016   323.18 million

Almost 100 million more people to draw from ....

America has become a more divided nation under Obama ...and Americans have lost the hope ...we are also experiencing more race riots in America than in the previous years ..to name a few changes..

I think this divided nation, riots, violence and resentment of the past seem pretty much trump era phenomena. 

Gayy people have to feel better about the progress and being more accepted both their own nation and their own government. 

Seems like white and mintories are getting along better by the fact that you see more interracial marriages than ever before. This is both a product of the individual as well as families and society being less divided by race. 

Biased media will always sell people on fear and division.  But reality is a different thing

Over/under on how many articles on Bing, Google, MSN, and Yahoo declare Hillary the winner of the debates no matter what happens?

I'm guessing at least 30 click bait articles within just hours. Some I bet are already written before the debates. I expect a lot of whitewashing and yellow journalism after the debates from liberals.

I can see the headlines. Fact checking Trump. You click and see nothing but whitewash. All comments posted below the article that expose the liberal lies are deleted and posters banned.

All of them . Hillary won tonight's debate she was articulate came.across.as.compassionate caring . Her message was on target she needed a great performance and delivered blah blah blahh. Reality is how many will actually go and vote for her.

Not really. I just think we see more of it because of social media. There's always been racial issues in America. 

I'm not really sure how you quantify "lost the hope" and "become divided" but I'm not Americans were really ever "united" in that context. 

It wasn't like race riots and police shootings of minorities (whether justified or not) started under Obama. That's been going on for a long time. We just see more of it because everyone has a camera on their phone and access to the internet these days.
