They need to update their plant, no question. I live about 10 min from their main location and it needs some help.

My neighbor is a developer for Intel and he said that they are trying to tap some new markets and expand because their legacy markets are not growing at all.

So they are spending money on plant, expect more layoffs to cover the costs..

sorry to realize this wall. my hope the expansion was adding employment opportunities in entry level tech jobs.... had a sinking feeling that it was automating equipment. to cut labor costs.

My direct neighbor works at the plant in question, we discuss things now and then. He has been at Intel for 15 yrs and they like many tech companies here are for sure not expanding in any form.So...if this plant is "bringing" jobs then it means another is losing. Intel for sure is not expanding operations, rather upgrading or shifting..Look at their history, it is easy to see...my comment has little to do with negativity and everything to do with corporate reality and especially an aging dinosaur like Intel.

What: Intel will revive a factory in Chandler that was mothballed in 2014.

How much: $7 billion investment.

Jobs: 3,000 new Intel workers, plus about 7,000 more contractors and suppliers.

11,000: Number of Intel workers in Chandler today.

To make what? Intel will make new, smaller, faster chips that will be used in advanced data applications, such as devices that rely on cloud computing.

Blah, Blah, Blah?Only a Trump hater and denier can twist that article negatively.There going to add 3,000 jobs, what details are going to matter that can take away from that excellent news for everybody concerned. Businesses in Chandler will have 10,000 more customers when factoring that 3,000 have families. My house just went up in value, I&#x27;m not far from it either. The real unemployment rate is 9.4%, lets see where it is in a year, 18 months max.Wall, Isn&#x27;t it horrible to be so miserable and make 3,000 jobs being added look like it&#x27;s nothing &amp; meaningless? Killer,They cut 5k jobs and add a potential 3k?I gave my reasons above..they are not a net hiring company and have not been for many years, they are merely completing a project they started and stopped which potentially taps into a segment they hope will offset slowdowns in their core businesses.Did you read the article? Notice that Intel clearly said it had nothing to do with Trump and the previous administration was just as interested in job growth and this was in the works since pre-mouth presidency.Intel has been cutting cutting cutting, so I am very sure that will not change even with the "shifting" happening here. Shifting means they are moving dollars out of one part of the business and into another, nothing of a net increase in jobs.
