Interesting dilemma for republicans with Syria

as pathetic as obama has been through this, it is an interesting dilemma for republicans.  the chance to bomb dark skinned muslims and feed their masters in the billion dollar defense firmsis too good to pass up.  but we've also reached the point where republicans want to do the opposite of everything obama proposes no matter what it is., 
i assume the people pulling the strings, the special interests, will make the utimate decision and we'll spend some money on syria, but in the meantime, some republicans can deal with their conflict by saying stupid sh*t like this.

Noticed how you pulled the race card.  Good job on that. that has to be the most acrobatic stretch at racecard pulling I have ever seen.

I do not think the special interest folks are pulling the strings here.

At then end of the day Obama is the commander in chief and the decesion rests with him. Just as the decsion to raid a pakistani compound to get Osama was his decision this will be his as well.

Saudi Arabia is pulling the strings...that's why they said they'd finance a war in Syria.

The best thing for the US to do is wait....

rick, i'll leave off "dark skinned" muslims when we start going after those lighter skinned chechans.  those chechans confuse the anti-muslim, pro christian, pro life, i mean pro birth but anti life after birth, pro war folks with their light skin. 

lord, obama makes the decision, but obama is no less controlled by special interests than the rest of them when it comes to big money decisions like this, in my opinion.

i'm sure we throw a few bombs at syria and iran will do whatever we say from now on.  because we've proven to be so effective when we intervene in the middle east.

Yeah its either special interests or long term inside politics..meaning the military leaders who are lifers are forcing the issue.

Following the money or the power grab is usually not far off the mark.

I disagree wall......I think the redline comment brought us to where we are today.

who used the gas? Nobody has publicly shared any "classified" info so I remain on the fence on who did. Maybe we will share concrete proof, or maybe the french or germans will.

Obama, hopes the vote fails, then he gets off the hook.

But like Wall said its the inside power players in the military along with the special interests who stand to make gobs of cash are the ones truly pulling the strings.  This has been going on forever.  Anybody that truly believes Presidents really call the shots, clearly doesnt know how our govt really operates.  Big business and the rich control the govt, always have always will, no matter who is President.  Even if a guy like Rand Paul became President, he would still be just a figure head puppet

Why make the comment? Sometimes the reasons behind the actions are not as easy to decipher than we know.

As I've said before, I could be wrong but Obama to me is a socialist at worst, not a military backing war monger..unlike some of our previous presidents.

I think he made the comment full well believing that if he said it Assad would listen. I think Obama and his inner circle miscalculated and now here we are.

I agree with this-

And, now, the indecision and game of dodgeball our govt is playing comes across as ineptness-

Which, in turn, will IMO result in our having difficulty gathering any international support- regardless of which path our leaders choose-

 I guess 21st century history has shown us that it is not about race...  there are dark skinned muslims and there are light skinned muslims... and both have members the group that obvious mean us harm... at least that is what recent history shows us...

I think also it displays the 21st century history of the GOP/teaparty/foxnews using the race/culture card as one of the main talking points when dealing with a darker skinned half white president along with other 21 century GOP/teaparty/foxnews agendas... 

I have actually seen much more acrobatic stretches and desperate Spins utilized on this site...  the difference is that we dont have a group a aliases flooding the site with garbage on a daily basis anymore...

Yes..

But to me what is unknown is the inner circle..who, why, motivations etc.

We are so focused on Obama and in reality thats just the microphone and the more important considerations are rarely discussed.

It comes from the race baiters themselves who only want to foward their agenda which is has nothing to do with helping people of race.

All news outlets whether left or right have their slants. It's what I guess we call "journalism" today. It's actually quite sad how divided we are as a nation

I don't think anyone in his inner circle is a military hawk. I think we agree on that. 
The motivation was Syria was getting ugly, Obama had to say/do something and they calculated that a redline comment would give Assad pause and Obama could get back to his regularly scheduled agenda.
I don't think the military is too enthused to get tied into another endless war which they know it will be.
I also don't think the defense corps have enough of the inner circles ear to get us this far into a no win, foreign policy nightmare. Obama is not a stupid man and I think he is guided by his core principles and I don't see playing cards with defense corps as one of them.
The auto industry however has Obama in their pocket....that's big big union territory.

I just get the feeling he and his administration got in way over their heads on this one- bluffing to a point- and got called-

And right now they have no outs- because he has no "coalition"-

This may be the first time in history that we count France as our primary military ally-

Yes thats how I see it too..

This sort of scenario gets ugly quick..similar to WWII where many were out of the fray early and then it got bad. I could see Iran being the wildcard here as they are for sure a loose cannon and could turn something small into something big.

I hope we take precise, quick action without troops and shut this down quickly.

It's really a no win situation-

Attack- and that's what it will be - an attack- and you will be viewed negatively by (apparently) the entire international community...

Noone has come out in support of such action (except maybe France and Israel)- note that they are waiting on us to lead ......

Do nothing- and your threats have no meaning- validating the "paper tiger" claim made in the past....

Putin is sitting in the catbird seat right now...

He can play this however he wants....
