.....says they're stunned at the sudden rise in crime after voting, unanimously, to dismantle their police dept. They say people are complaining that police are nowhere in sight as crimes increase.

Better get used to it, morons. peace_5

Violence interrupters were supposed to be the solution right? The Democratic leadership in Minneapolis has failed miserably and should put an end to this  ridiculous experiment from gaining any traction nationwide.

will be getting worse after the trial....   charges will be lesser, some even dropped because the attorney general succumbed to the mob and charged them with the highest by law.   Defund the police... great idea..

The organizers of the protest are calling for a transition from traditional policing to what they describe as "community-led safety."

"There could be a system of first responder's similar to a police force but they should be members of the community, not living in suburbs," ..... “I think most the jobs that police do can be done by social workers. Let’s hire more social workers and pay them a really good living wage.”

That should work.... police the streets with community organizers and social workers ..what could go wrong ?

Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) and Ranking Member of the House Committee on the Judiciary, Jim Jordan (R-OH-04), introduced the Holding Rioters Accountable Act of 2020 to hold the rioters responsible for destruction across our nation accountable for their actions and ensure local officials do not turn a blind eye to the chaos in our cities.

The bill grants the attorney general the authority to withhold up to 10% of Department of Justice (DOJ) grants from cities and states where prosecutors are failing to prosecute crimes arising from riots and other violent protests.

The DOJ is responsible for determining prosecutorial ( spelling check.. ok ) misconduct for the purposes of implementing this legislation.

Hold anarchists and criminals accountable for their lawlessness....Reps. Jim Jordan

Voting for it and actually doing it are 2 different things.

They have not dismantled the police but keep stroking each other since it makes you feel better.

    Carry on...

Looks like Seattle has beat them to it. The Seattle CC voted for defunding police, which Mayor Durkan, in a rare showing of lucidity, vetoed. Yesterday, the CC overrode her veto. The SPD will now lose 100 LEO's before the end of this year, & the CC wants to cut police funding by 50% for 2021. It's hard to imagine that these fukkin morons ever go downtown. Seattle has turned into a shithole over the L15 years to the point that I won't even go down there anymore (not like I had much reason to this year). Portland is just as bad. I was down there about 2 years ago & saw the same thing. It's a damn shame. But I don't live in Seattle/King County so I have no vote..........but I can vote with my wallet.

I went to Portland about a month ago to visit family and couldn’t believe what a hell hole that place is. And I’m not talking about the political stuff.

If you walk around Boston you’ll see about 90% normal people and 10% drug addicted zombies or mentally ill people.

If you walk around Portland that ratio is 50/50.

Homeless people everywhere. People living in tents on the sidewalks! I kept thinking a gremlin was going to reach out and grab my ankle as I walked by.

Republicans should do a better job showing Portland and what happens to a city as a result of far left politics.

So what about the convicted felons (rapists, murderers, and armed felons) that Harris assisted in raising bail money for in MINN? She tweeted to donate to their fund for bail money and the next day felons are back out on the street.

How does Harris get away with this without a peep out of CNN? Of course, they are too busy running their anti-Trump campaign.

Bloomberg paying fines for felons so they can vote. Fidel Lebron doing the same...

How desperate are they to get votes if this is even considered?

Morons in Minneapolis can't believe the rise in crime after throwing police under the bus.

Seattle is going to have mental health workers for non-violent situations...

I assume when someone call in to 911 the operator will ask to put the suspect on the phone to determine if this will requite a non-armed social worker or a police officer. Sounds like a great plan.

Seattle has hired a pimp for $150k/year to be a "street czar". an_roll_laugh

These idiots think this guy is gonna prevent crime. They'll see him once a month when he picks up his check.

This is what libs have in mind for reforming law enforcement.

Well, at least we agree law enforcement is needed.

One of the first things I would do is a simple business practice. The more skills you have & know how to utilize them, the more money you receive. Our officers/fire personnel are woefully underpaid.

Those officers with multiple complaints need to be quarantined, retrained & monitored once they are put back out on the street. No organization would keep an employee with multiple issues, given a 2nd and many times a 3rd chance before getting canned. The police union needs to be part of the process & buy into improving their performance and communication in the community.

After 25 years, yes they have a real nice pension.

A regular city employee gets about 40% of that.

But in most cases, those employees are not putting their lives on the line every day for 25 years.
