This might be a bigger story than usual because it happened on US soil.

the media wont even report on it...if bush was in office it would be front page news. equally abhorrent no matter who's in office but wars and drone attacks and torture and killing american citizens without warranta or due process is a-ok under obama

May have missed since I glanced through it quickly but never seen it mention what happened in Libya last year.

I'm wondering if it might be a bigger story or if there will be more backlash for this case than the others because it happened under the 'hated' Bush administration, and more importantly, in the USA.

If you look at the *update* at the bottom of the article where they specifically outline what legally constitues 'aiding' terrorist organizations, there is no way around it. This is black and white.

Also, letting the Bush administration off the hook is directly responsible for allowing the Obama administration to get away with the same type of shit. If Bush hadn't gotten carte blanche immunity on Day 1 of the Obama presidency, this wouldn't be allowed to keep happening because there would be a clear sign that this is not acceptable. It sends the message that there are real consequences for such immoral and illegal actions. Not even, it would be proof there are consequences and might make whatever POTUS think twice about what illegal actions he orders people to do.

If you want to stop this type of thing from happening in the future, you have to hold these people accountable, especially if laws were broken. Which is the case here.

Otherwise, what's to stop Obama or the next president from committing war crimes or something similar. There is no incentive to follow the law, and more importantly there is no deterrent for illegal actions if everybody knows in advance there will be no consequences. 


You end up with the potential for drone attacks on god knows who, and the DOJ explaining how it's OK for them to decide which people they should be allowed to kill or imprison without trial. 

This is a big issue.

Islamic Jihadists have been running amok for 20 years, and the author title’s his piece: “MORE US Sponsored Terror.”

 

Because we’re tryin to keep a nuke out of the sick bastard’s hands who wants to “…wipe a country of the face of the map.”

 

Everyone knows we’re not perfect; and do some pretty awful things.

 

Compared to the rest of the misfits of the world, I’d say we ain’t too bad.

A) That's the point of this thread

B) Again, the ignorance and 'self-righteousness' it takes to make that statement is surpassed in absurdity by the irony that you think there is a difference... That you think 'you' are better than 'them' and should be held to different standards, says a lot.

C) I'll thank you to never criticize Obama or the Dems EVER again. I'll keep an eye out for this. Thanks again.
