From all we've learned about the spread of covid these past 6+ months it is logical that when people visit a maskless, close-quarters environment (Sturgis?) then many will invariably contract the virus - whether they ever get sick or not - and as carriers of the disease, bring it back with them to their hometowns/states....and the whole damn thing continues.
The selfishness and outright DENIAL by idiots is what will extend the life of this contagion for MONTHS -- and as a direst result delay all of us from getting our lives back to pre-pandemic norms.
Well, if accurate, then LOGICALLY close to 41% are at increased risk to a negtive consequence from covid-19.
Someone on this forum quoted a disease doctor saying that (paraphrased) "If we isolate ALL the elderly and ALL those at increased risk (implying preconditions) then schools and restaurants, etc, should all be open so the rest of the population can get on with their lives"
Wow! That would suggest isolating more than 50% of the population (the majority) so that the minority can have fun -- even though the contagion would STILL be spreading continuously and even more rapidly throughout the ENTIRE population. Meaning those in isolation (the majority) could be there for a very long time indeed.
Notwithstanding that such a "herd immunity" and "let's just open up everything and don't give a rats-a$$ about the majority" attitude/measure would likely mean our borders to Canada and Mexico would remain closed AND there would be severely restricted travel to and from the US, thus depressing or possibly crushing our tourism, airlines, and hospitality industries.
In latest sham, Trump made 3 healthcare proposals. First, executive order protecting people with pre-existing conditions. But this protection already exists in Obamacare which his administration is working to eliminate. If supreme court strikes down Obamacare, millions of Americans would face higher costs or lose healthcare insurance. No guarantee congress would agree to any new healthcare legislation. Trump's protection is weaker than Obamacare law and offers no improvement.
Secondly, congress is unlikely to approve Trump's ban on surprise medical bills and he can't pass laws on his own. Third, Trump is trying to bride voters with their own money by promising $200 drug discount cards to 33 million seniors. However seniors may never receive discount cards. Problem is that funding would have to be come from some other program such as medicare trust fund. This is likely to result in legal challenges and long delays. Overall, Trump's proposals are unlikely to change anything at all.
Trump has lost support from catholics and evangelicals according to group "Vote common good" which mobilizes religious voters to stop his reelection. In polls, Biden rates higher in virtues such as kindness, generosity, humility, chastity, modesty, carefulness and patience. Whereas Trump rates higher in sins such as lust, sloth, greed, wrath, gluttony, envy and pride.
