Cato institute found at least 36 countries impose travel restrictions on travellers from China around the same time as the US. Whether restrictions work to stop virus spread is in doubt. No scientific basis for Trump to claim his travel ban saves thousands of lives according to John Hopkins university. His travel ban is really weak travel restrictions that allowed thousands of travellers from China to enter US according to Associated press fact checking. World health organization says history shows travel bans aren't effective in preventing virus transmission in the long term.
