Trump's order is unconstitutional because federal government (not states and municipalities) has authority over immigration policy. While having breakfast with my wife, she asked me when I realized Trump was going to be a problem. I thought about it & remembered something he said after he became the nominee.
"Only, I can fix it."
At first I thought this guy has to be kidding but quickly learned it was going to be his way or the highway, as people were being hired & fired at a rapid pace. Many he hired were ill equipped for their positions while others got positions because they were big donors or kissed his ass. I got really pissed when he made his buddies from Mar A Lago responsible for the Veterans Administration. He never had me as a supporter but after this move I realized he had to go.
I did a little research on his "only I can fix it" comment. The entire comment went like this...."I am your voice. I will be a champion, your champion. Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it."
Our country was mad at Washington because of their inability to get anything done about jobs, high drug prices and our roads/bridges. I'll admit Trump is an expert at messaging. He has the ability to tell people what they want to hear. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the demeanor or ability to work with others & as a result most of his promises have not been kept.
His voice was heard by Americans who have not reaped the benefits of Wall Street & humiliated by the global marketplace where they didn't have the training or skills in which to participate. Public trust in government was at a low & Trump took advantage by engaging the part of the country that had been left behind in their minds.
If the economy remains strong, there's a good chance Trump will be reelected. I don't want that to be the case because of the many reasons I've noted throughout this thread. The next 9 months or so will determine if we are again are viewed as the leader of the free world or continue on the path to remain the laughingstock our country has become across the globe.
