Pope Francis was a good man. President Biden is a great statesman. He loyally serves this nation for 5 decades. I am not a Catholic but I have sympathy for their church and the time of transition as they look for a new leader in their faith. Hopefully they have better luck than Republican party in finding one.....

Anybody in this thread that leaves their children alone with a priest at the church because they’re studying for their communion or confirmation , or if they have Stations of the Cross or whatever , thinks twice , three times , and probably a fourth about it , if they even let it happen in the first place .

The largest plate comes from America however the scandals of Cardinal Law and others moving pediphile priests from parish to parish darkened the amount of attendance.
Catholic churches in America began to close consolidate and parish tithe and offerings began to plummet.
Now what was a vibrant offering to Catholic Charities has become a near break even with local churches trying to pay expenses.
The Church is not the priests or nuns The church is about women , and Family hence why Mother Mary Mother of God is so important to the organization.
Without Mother's confidence in clergy no ( ok not many )Dads are going to bring children to church.
These are the basis of belief. The Church offers hope to humans world wide. It does a great many things to every nation on the planet but it costs money.
I personally do not naturally trust anyone someone has to earn that. But even then I do not want to see my children left alone with anyone but their Mom.
As far as sexual abuse in America. It is sick but as you watch talk shows Oprah, or Steve Wilcox, or really any Dr Phil format you realize it is everywhere. It has no religious, or ethnic , race nationality or nation without this scourge. It is creating monsters ,addicts, sociopaths and whether church, foster care , school, or even within a family this happens every minute of the day some where on the globe ... Maybe it would take a really large AI data base to gather the information and discern an answer. Because I have no capacity to phathom the scope of this crisis.
