So I hear Obama stating that 90 or 99% of small business wont get taxes increased. After doing a little simple math it only takes 7 employees making 35,000 or more to hit that. 10 employees making 25,000.
Not that I care deeply about lawyers but many law firms will raise their already ridiculous rates to cover the added burden they will face. Doctors as well will charge more. The consumer always gets the increase, its not the business.
Maybe I'm looking at it wrong and someone smart can help me understand.

I know that most doctors have already gotten massive pay cuts... and the rates will continue to drop. Also with Obama's socialized healthcare plan I am sure there will be a limit on the amount doctor's can make in a year etc. It will probably all be government controlled in the end

Actually, most law firms (around here anyway) have cancelled their Chistmas / Holiday parties this year because of the existing economy not future taxes.

Lawyers (or really all businesses charge what they CAN charge. Has nothing to do with their cost structure.
Doctors are for the most part regulated by the insurance companies in regards to their fees unless they refuse insurance altogether which is the trend these days.

Here's my economic opinion...........

you have to pass a test to drive a car but any nitwit can vote
for the most powerful position in the world- unreal
businesses charge what people can afford to spend- if they cannot
afford to spend 100 dollars but can afford to spend 60 then
business will charge 60
i really wish more people actually ran a business and then maybe
they might actually understand how a business works- you seem
to be listening to koaj and others too damn muchno wonder
your logic is so warped

You have to stop posting this crap. You keep repeating this idiotic statement over and over again. Businesses maximize profits. They do not "charge what a customer can afford".
Do you think most smokers can "afford" $3 a pack and that is why the retailers charge that?
Were drivers suddenly flush with cash so gas stations decided to raise prices this summer to $4 because customers "could afford it"?

Income Taxes are on "Net Profit"...... Not Gross Revenue or Gross Payroll.

It's really insulting to see how the GOP suddenly started to embrace plumbers and small businesses all of a sudden though. Two months ago, all they cared about was Big Oil.

Small businesses are struggling right now because of the recession.
Taxes have nothing to do with it and the GOP has brainwashed their followers into thinking that taxes have ANYTHING to do with it. Bear in mind, "income taxes" are only paid on profits. Meanwhile, we got businesses & entire industries LOSING money so there are no taxes anyway........ Not a small business but the Airline & Auto business have not turned a profit in years.

so what we are basically calling a necessity of life today with
how are lives work and when the cost got to that point the
demand side started to drop
yes the consumer will pay what they can afford for what they
need in life and as soon as it hits a certain point they stop
purchasing it
consumers buy what they can afford and what they feel is
a reasonable price for that product- which will be higher for
the products/services we deem as a priority in our life- to some
a gallon of gasoline is a priority up till a certain point- to somebody
else a pack of cigarettes is a priority up till a certain price point
i have a product that people value at 10 dollars but i try to sell
this product for 20 dollars guess how many i would sell? not many
because the price does not equal the value of that product
simple business economics

HELLO mta and FriedShimp. Thanks for helping make my point.
If price goes to high, people will stop buying it. -- Correct
If business cannot lower the price it asks because cost to make it (including taxes) does not allow them to lower price, guess what they STOP MAKING IT because there is no profit in it.

Election 2008 - another reason we need to upgrade the American Education system. Our lacking education system has finally paid off for the Democrats.

EPIC. FAIL.
I think you have it backwards. Actually I know you have it backward.
The educated support Obama. McCain, not so much... ----------------------------
61 Nobel Laureates in Science Endorse Obama
A
group of 61 Nobel Laureates have gotten together to endorse Barack
Obama for President. Their letter and the signatories are below. This
is the largest number of Nobel Laureates to ever endorse a candidate
for office, more than endorsed either Gore or Kerry. (Kerry had 48
total.) That is a remarkable statement. Here is the link to the
original letter of endorsement.

If a businesses survival depends on a difference of 3% taxes on Net Profit (aka the same taxes during the Clinton Administrtion) either they are in the wrong business or need better management.
