Senate should be independent and work for the US. But instead McConnell is influenced by politics and works for Trump who started this shutdown mess. Nothing wrong with house democrats introducing a bill to reopen government which is identical to previous bill supported by republicans.

Sensible solution is to reopen government and negotiate later on wall. Rest of government shouldn't be held hostage. However desperate Trump is afraid of losing whatever little leverage he has left. He doesn't care if government shutdown continues for months.
