[/Quote]I don&#x27;t agree with that.  The reason why is I saw an old interview that Trump had with Chris Matthews.  It was from 2004 but I&#x27;m pretty confident that Trump still feels the same way about the dollar.  He talked about how he likes a weak dollar.  Then I got to thinking about how Mnuchin was picked as treasury secretary and how he played a role in the last housing crash.  Of course Trump likes a weak dollar.  It&#x27;s easier for him to buy real estate and a housing crash would be great as well.  I think that&#x27;s what he really wants to occur but would prefer it to be after 2020 and then he can just blame Democrats for it anyway.I believe the Republicans are causing damage to themselves anyway.  It appears the Republicans have been emboldened by the results in 2016 and now think that half the country supports a far-right agenda.  Only 23% of eligible voters cast ballots for Trump and there are too many moderates and independents for that to actually be true.  They&#x27;re advancing some of the biggest hardliners and pushing moderates aside.  That&#x27;s a big mistake to me.

Trump is correct in going after China because they eventually seek to defeat us both economically, and militarily ... How ??

China already acquires American Technology under unfair trade practices. Many American companies are forced to accept technology transfers to gain access to the Chinese Market. China's foreign-ownership restrictions require American firms to enter into "joint ventures" as minority partners in sectors that Beijing considers strategic. Trump is trying to blow this unfair trade practice up, and is willing to amp up the tariffs until China cries Uncle (which they likely will).

Why is this important ?? Because the Chinese Government has a "Made in China 2025" initiative where they seek to dominate emerging technology industries. (Think artificial intelligence & robotics). China wants to acquire the best American Technology and intellectual property, ... and then promptly use it against .. both economically and militarily.

Trump is right to go after China. Thank god he has both the courage and vision to take these steps.

Circle July 6th on your calendar, because this is when The stock market will tank if China doesn't get their Sh*T together.

I'd recommend People take a long-term view of this tariff back and forth, and get ready for a bumpy stock market ride. We should gladly trade this for better trade deal in the future that will help us both economically & militarily.

I think the markets are finally realizing today that the U.S. is not backing down on its position.  Will be interesting to see how China responds ; they are nearing a bear market of its own and likely have little appetite to deal with a full scale trade war....

He is focused on Tarriffs, and the long-term risk China poses to the U.S.   Trade Hawks rule the roost now, and those that didn&#x27;t get the job done  on trade talks with China month&#x27;s ago  (Gary Cohn departing, Steve Mnuchin, Larry Kudlow),  have a diminished role.
