Texas Governor *mandates* face coverings!!

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who had resisted calls to mandate the use of face masks amid a spike in coronavirus cases in the state, relented Thursday when he ordered those in counties with at least 20 cases to cover up in public.

The Republican governor pointed out daily new cases in the state have quadrupled to more than 6,000 since May, the positivity rate has skyrocketed from 4.5% to 14% and hospitalizations have more than tripled to 5,700 a day. Abbott added that more than 91 counties have set records for new cases in the last three days alone.“Wearing a face covering in public is proven to be one of the most effective ways we have to slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Abbott

Abbott had previously forbidden local officials from requiring masks. On Thursday, he granted them authority to restrict outdoor gatherings to 10 people or less.

With some exceptions, Abbott’s new order – going into effect Friday at noon – mandates face masks inside public buildings and outside when it’s not possible to maintain six feet of social distance. Violators would be initially warned and can be subsequently fined up to $250.

Of course Patrick is right. Fauci has been wrong almost all the time since this thing started. He is an old doc who hasnt seen a patient in 20 years. He talks good in front of a camera so they keep him around. THAT in and of itself is a lesson learned much like this one:

1.) Dr. Fauci says he warned Trump in January that the US was in real trouble but that is not what he said publicly.

In January Dr. Anthony Fauci told Newsmax TV that the United States “did not have to worry”about the coronavirus and that it was“not a major threat.”

2.) Dr. Fauci warned of an apocalyptic coronavirus pandemic — then just weeks later he compared the coronavirus to a bad flu.

3.) Dr. Fauci based all of his predictions on models the that were OFF BY MILLIONS and then later told reporters,“You can’t really rely on models.”

4.) On March 20th Dr. Fauci jumped in and during a press briefing on hydroxychloroquine treatment for coronavirus “corrected” the presidentsaying, “You got to be careful when you say ‘fairly effective.’ It was never done in a clinical trial… It was given to individuals and felt that maybe it worked.”

Exactly two weeks later hydroxychloroquine was deemed the most highly rated treatmentfor the novel coronavirus in an international poll of more than 6,000 doctors.

5.) Dr. Fauci pushed these garbage models every step of the way.

A month ago Dr. Fauci claimed 1 million to 2 million Americans would die from coronavirus. Then he said 100,000 to 200,000 Americans will die from the virus. Three weeks ago he agreed 81,766 Americans would die from the coronavirus. Then by that Wednesday Then by that Wednesday the experts cut the number of deathsto 60,415 projected deaths. to 60,415 projected deaths.

6.) On Easter Dr. Fauci suggested President Trump. should have shut down the economyin February… When the number of known cases in the US was around 100. Fauci later walked back his attacks.

7.) Dr. Fauci said cruises were OKon March 9th. That was a huge error.

8.) Dr. Fauci said malls, movies and gyms were OKon February 29th. That was another huge mistake.

9.) Dr. Fauci was wrong about the first coronavirus deaths in the country. Dr. Fauci, Dr. Birx and the CDC were off by nearly a month. California officials revealed in Aprilthat a patient in Santa Clara died from coronavirus on February 6th not February 29th.

10.) Dr. Fauci and the CDC missed themillions and millions of US citizenswho had already contracted the coronavirus before the draconian lockdowns took place. Knowing this could have prevented the economic calamity.

11.) OnApril 15, 2020, Fauci endorses Tinder hookups, unbelievably.

12.) Dr. Fauci relied on corrupt W.H.O rulesto lock down the United States and destroy the US economy. Meanwhile, this delays the herd immunitythat is needed to prevent a future outbreak of this deadly virus.

13.) Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx used the Imperial College Model to persuade President Trump to lock down the entire US economy. The Imperial model has since been confirmed as A COMPLETE FRAUD.

14.) Dr. Fauci warned that Georgia would see a surge in coronavirus cases and deaths by opening their economy too early.

He was wrong again– In fact the opposite happened.

15.) And on Tuesday during testimony Dr. Fauci told Dr. Rand Paul that opening the schools would not be a good idea.

There are a lot of folks that are upset with the way he (mis?)handled HIV/AIDS.  

But it is still like the old saying:  they call it medical practice for a reason.  

It is not entirely his fault — he is just the face of it, of course.  He receives bad advice and grabs for a limb of hope with the best of them.  

A bigger fault could be our politicians following him headlong into a mess that is being prolonged by bad advice.  

We know masks don’t do much good, we know we need a pittance of herd immunity or we have to be on COMPLETE lockdown BEFORE the virus got a head start.  We know the primary targets to protect — and did a very poor job of that. 

What do we do if we get another Spanish Flu type virus sometime soon?  We will need our doctors and politicians more than ever to be correct.  But will the people actually follow the advice then?  This may jade some folks or cause them to doubt a more potent virus than this one to be serious.

Earlier Friday, Abbott once again ordered bars across the state shut down indefinitely and directed restaurant dining rooms to scale back on seating customers.

The dramatic reversal came as confirmed virus cases surge to record levels after the state embarked on one of America’s fastest re-openings.

In the last four days alone, Texas has reported more than 23,000 confirmed new cases, and Friday surpassed 5,000 hospitalizations for the first time — a skyrocketing threefold increase from a month ago."

‘I don’t believe in gravity.’"

He added that N95 masks do an even better job at protecting
people from the virus, but they are in short supply and are
needed for healthcare professionals.

“but we DO know social distancing reduces the risk of transmitting
the virus by 90%, and wearing masks decreases the risk by 65%."

The purpose of a face mask is to help in preventing the person who wearing the mask,  spreading disease.  It does Not prevent from outside coming into.  Picture this... the mask is a chain link fence.... covid virus is a grain of sand....   so basically it does not do much...   

If everyone did they part to prevent their shit from spreading that would be a good thing.  If covid was worse at killing people, there would be a whole slew of dead dumbasses.

Wash hands,  cover mouth nose when sneezing or coughing, stay home when not feeling well... common sense... sad to say but here, we have a lot of lazy stupid people...  side note. ....  people who passed from illness non related to covid but passed during the covid counts as a covid death...  missed dr appointments,  treatments...

Imagine if that grain of sand had to ride on a frisbee? The virus doesn't fly very far on it's own accord. Masks are meant to prevent droplets of saliva from spreading.

That's the thing. I explained this to someone in another thread. That's what makes SARS CoV2 so devastating compared to SAR CoV1. SARS 1 is more deadly. Chances are you're gonna get sick when you catch it. Sick people seek treatment. Sick people isolate. The virua doesn't spread. SARS 2 hides. The prevalence of asymptomatic carriers is astounding. I know someone who had it, not extremely young, has asthma, had no visible symptoma at the point they went to get tested. Then went to get dressed, sprayed on some perfume, and realized she had lost her sense of smell.
