I’m picking up your sarcasm like it’s a fumble that’s loose on the field , the thing is that the field is so muddy , and it’s in such bad shape , and with the lights in the stadium being out because the owner decided to pay the electric bill for some other team , that I can’t see which way is the right way to run , and score , because I can hardly see “ the end zone “ at all 
Such a sham...I mean shame..those poor Venezuelan people...I'm surprised those people didn't start working the gas station as full service pump stations as it once was....would have been genius...
These poor people will assimilate into our communities & perform the laborious work many Americans don't want to do. Before you know it, they will own small businesses, purchase homes, become star players in local high school sports & raise families while proving the American Dream is still alive.

No one 'wants' to necessarily but they do. This is a myth. Do not fall for the okey-doke.
People use it as an excuse to think is okay for illegals to enter.
They also are not all that great at assimilating because, by definition, they cannot totally do things in order to do it, legally.
The only thing true in that statement is that they are 'poor'.

and I’m not too altogether sure that it is a myth anyway , because through my experiences watching people work , they want to do as little as possible , or loaf around till someone else does it , or they’ll complain about having to do it which takes even more time away from getting the job done .
and that’s the current generation of the average “ older “ workers .

people aren’t really interested in doing hard work . You see that here right in this very forum when it comes to communication . Like always , yes a small percentage do and will stick their nose in and grind the gears of completing whatever task is set before them no matter how difficult or tedious it may be
But by and large you gotta be on a heavy dose of magic mushrooms to have that perception be your “ true “ reality of the situation , in my humble opinion , and going off of what I have seen in this life

It is the incentivizing, or the lack of it.
Trust me, there are places in the USA you can go to and see all of the 'grunt' labor work still being done by the longtime local folks.
Sure, if you bring in a bunch of illegals to those areas and pay them less to do the work -- the businesses will take advantage.
But if you disallow illegals to do the work -- then the locals will have to do the work.
It does not matter if they 'are interested' in doing the work or not. Eventually it see-saws in favor of someone 'being interested' in doing it.
It is a lazy intellectual thinker that does not see this. The business owners do not mind propagating this myth because they can save money. The folks do not mind if they can get cheap goods and services.
An easy way to see this is if all of the doctors, scientists, engineers, etc. from India or China were allowed in illegally and hired to do all of those jobs. Then if all of the current folks doing those jobs were sent packing. What would happen? The dynamics would change in a hurry. Now a local doctor or engineer would not 'want to do that job' anymore because the incentive is no longer there. Etc., etc.

even though I’m having a hard time believing that the average “ John Anderson “ out there really has any desire to do some hard work
but maybe I’m overshooting my load and maybe I shouldn’t be so brazen and frivolous with my words or how I choose to use them on the subject .
I’m going off of what my eye socket jellyballs have witnessed and what has transpired in front of me there in my field of vision .

There have always been lazy people of course.
But there are plenty of people that like the self-satisfaction of doing hard work.
But if you can undercut their salary to a point where it is not 'beneficial' for them -- then they will go 'enjoy' doing hard work elsewhere, etc.
Enjoyment and self-esteem and sense of accomplishment AND beneficial are not necessarily the same thing.
