No value judgement on the crime, suspect, or trial. However the charges upon being picked up:
"forgery, firearms not to be carried without a license, tampering with records or identification, possessing instruments of a crime and false identification to law enforcement authorities"
Seems like a different variety of that government inefficiency that DOGE is tasked with. Or for their part maybe super efficient by the justice system.

Forgery is close enough to tampering and firearms not to be carried is close enough to possessing instruments of a crime for me as a citizen to believe laws are girdled / girdered which puts a defendant behind the 8 ball, largely the point. Again, not making a value judgement on this case, defendant, etc.
Seems like your missing something.
Altoona PA does not want nor can they charge this guy for murder. In their interaction with him he violated several PA laws. So they arrest him on PA charges, notify New York, and New York requests extradition if they feel it's their wanted man. Then New York hands out the murder charge.
And that's how it went.
It may look clumsy to most, but that is how it works state to state.

The first post is my reference, not sure if you followed the trail here or not but my comment was based on what his first post was. The reason why charges are worded as they are is not about a partisan party at all, the wording gets changed due to legal rulings and restrictions not left vs right. That is the point. The other point is that people were shocked he was not charged with murder from the outset from the beginning and it is not about PA vs NY because NY can charge at the same time or before or after PA does so it is not about where the person is at the time of the charges being made.
My comment as you can see above was that they needed to get the guy off the streets and the charges they could make stick were those as he listed..nothing political or left/right here. He chose to make it this way and I called him out for that. To get the guy off the street you charge what you can and that it will stick not that he can slide off from technicalities or even worse that say NY makes charges without all the evidence we ended up seeing come out, say they do that just because it is what the public wants...to charge him with murder. Say his legal reps get the charges thrown out due to lack of evidence or some other nuance like he wasnt read rights or he was abused by arresting officers or he was harmed while in custody and say those charges get thrown out...what good does it do to charge with the strongest parts when you do not have that proof yet and the risk of him getting those tossed is greater than waiting for evidence to come out first?
I dont find fault with the wording, I am sure the wording has changed over time due to courts deciding it needed to be so and I do not fault NY not immediately charging murder from day one without evidence and a case still developing.

The dude who took a shot at the POS while he was golfing on his course in WPB has asked for his trial be delayed until next December. His Public Defender stated they have been inundated with data from the government including hours of surveillance & police body camera evidence. She also wants to have his sanity tested. The judge told her "good luck with that."
The trial was supposed to start in February but the judge agreed it was too soon. He also didn't want to have the trial in the summer because potential jurors would have scheduled vacations which would impact the jury pool. So the trial has to take place in the fall or next winter.
The Public Defender is obviously in over her head & she should bow out gracefully. Let some left wing rich lawyer take this case pro-bono & move this thing along. The lawyer will become nationally known, probably write a book & visit all the talk shows. He'll get his 15 minutes of fame. The creep will get proper representation & justice will be served.

Detaining him as a suspect in a NY murder would have gotten him off the street with charges in NY or PA to come later (as you note)

Well we saw a former president charged with 34 felonies, efficient or inefficient is in the eye of the beholder.
We just saw a jury hang only to have the prosecution drop the top charge (that they knew they couldn't prove) to have the jury consider a ssimilar but lesser charge. Efficient or inefficient is in the eye of the beholder.
We see 2-3 % of cases end in trial with majority plead out? Do the majority plead out because hey they know they're guilty? Efficient or Inefficient is in the eye of the beholder.

Do you not know the answer to your own question or do the percentages not make sense to you for some other reason?
The wording of charges is constantly changing, you think it is bad here go watch some UK legal proceeding shows and see how strongly different their system is than even the flawed one you think ours is. Wording changes when someone challenges the legal system (which is the right of every citizen btw) and when there needs to be modifications or changes then they are made due to legal decisions from usually higher courts.
The reason why the case percentages are low relative to the charge total is that our system is not funded or equipped to go to trial for even a slim majority of cases, like midnight referenced the docket for cases is LONG and DEEP and that is even with the percentages you are complaining about. Our legal system is not set up to handle the cases in mass that are brought to the courts. We do not fund the court system or our legal system (cops, prosecutors etc) to handle the needs of what little cases drop through and go to trial. Do you want to expand the legal system to a 10-50X magnitude so you can see more cases go to trial? Do you want to fund local and state and federal police departments to investigate and prosecute all the cases or even say 30-40-50% of the cases? Our taxes fund the legal system, would you like to fund the court system and the legal authorities so we can prosecute a higher percentage instead of plea out as you are suggesting?
Trump deserved his charges and many more, the guy lives on the fringes and that is what you get when you live trying to exploit the law and use NDAs to hide your abuses of women or your exploits from a personal and business perspective. He got lucky it could have and should have been much worse.
