Like Double, I am financially secure & my children will be the same when my wife & I pass on to a better life.
However, I want my children & grandchildren to never worry about health care & the extraordinary costs associated with it. Losing care due to pre-existing conditions would be devastating for most Americans.
The end of Medicare & Medicaid as we know it . Sure there are abuses in Medicaid & I want those addressed. I also want the generational concept that the government should take care of irresponsible Americans popping out puppies ended.
The rebirth of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will not take place with Republicans in power.
I want immigrants to get a fair shake to pursue the American dream that many people believe is dead. I do not believe it is dead.

Midnight1: With all due respect, and being older and comfortably retired myself, I agree with most of what you said, but the concept that you can look after the future for your grandchildren is a pipe dream. Life, as we know it, is changing so rapidly the future is completely unknowable. Our grandparents had the same dream for our generation, but if they were with us today they would be totally astounded at what this world has become. They would not understand the morals, politics or economics of this age.
A good example may be gun rights. If the founding fathers were with us they would ask "are you people nuts?" They never envisioned huge metropolitan areas dominated by everything from organized crime to common street gangs of teenagers, all armed with automatic, rapid fire weapons. Just as they did not give a thought to the immorality of slavery or denial of voting rights to women.
So, what to do? Raise your kids as morally and patriotically responsible, educate them as best you can, then; cut them loose. The world they inherit is only somewhat under our control, and the world they will pass on to your grandchildren will be totally beyond our control. My kids are raised, almost have their own kids raised, and there is one great-grandchild involved now. What can I do about the world they live in, now or in the future? Very little, so I follow Padre Pio's advice: Pray, hope, and don't worry. Anxiety is the most worthless of human emotions.
bws77 - I agree with you about the 1-2% being total bullshit and it's been that way for a long long time. I understand the
rising cost related to tariffs. But, we definitely can't keep the status quo with China. Would be nice if Congress put
a little time doing their job. The Mexica/Canada deal is a win win and bipartisan. It's ignorant of Pelosi to simply not
put this legislation into law. WHY????? Simple - Make Trump look good so fk the American public. Trump has said
he will never abolish Social Security. Will Medicare for all eliminate SS? Money has to come from somewhere.

Therefore; if DJT continues to pound the Fed for lower prime rates and “cheap money” for the borrowing group, the savings group must subsidize the borrowers. In a nutshell “there is no such thing as a free lunch.”
Medicare for all will not affect Social Security at all. That is a retirement, aid to dependent children, and disability fund. The Medicare Tax, employer and employee both, is a separate program with an entirely separate tax. Medicare funding (for all) would either see a significant rise in that tax or some new form of taxation. On the positive side, hundreds of billions of dollars spent by employers, employees, and private individuals would become available to fund Medicare for all.
An incredibly small number of immigrants are “low lifes”. Most turn out to be productive, decent, residents or citizens. Some are even decent tax contributors, since operating under an assumed name (identity) they fear the government, and never file accurate income tax forms that may entitle them to a refund.
Everything about our society, economics, and culture is a good news-bad news situation. Do what you can. Look after your family and friends, but don’t let all of societies ills create anxiety.
