My opponent asks her supporters to recite a three-word loyalty pledge. It reads: “I’m With Her”. I choose to recite a different pledge.

My pledge reads: “I’M WITH YOU – THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.”

Donald Trump needed to give the speech of his life–he did that, and much more. He laid out an inspiring American Manifesto for our troubled times.

And he did it his way.

Not surprisingly, from start to finish, it is muscular and bold, leavened only by appeals to racial harmony and pledges of compassion for all. It offers a prominent nod to Bernie Sanders’ supporters in a bid to get some to jump the Democratic ship.

Most important, it keeps faith with his campaign themes of putting forgotten Americans first. In contrasting his view with his opponent’s, the Republican nominee put it this way: “Americanism, not globalism, will be our credo.”

And “I am your voice.”

Ok, I just watched the speech on youtube and I really liked it. I like the direction of it. I am voting for Trump. I really am. 

One thing: He comes out on stage to the music of Jerry Goldsmith's Air Force One movie score. All I am thinking is Hollywood script, actor....is Trump just an actor?? I mean I was half expecting to see Harrison Ford walk out there on stage. Anyway, I'd like to see what the Dems can come up with. 

One more thing: If Trump knocked it out of the park, then why did my book just move the line on HRC from -220 before the speech to -260 after it??!!!!!

I should correct myself, the race isn't over. I think Trump has an outside chance, but I think I am only saying this because I really like Trump's style. Style over substance??? that's what it is going to take here for an upset I think.

The woman protester was inserted to get Hillary late points at the next convention.....this is all a setup. Air Force One was the music Trump was introduced to. Air Force One, the movie score. Trump is an ACTOR. an actor that I would like to see him act his way into the White House. It would be entertaining. Our whole government might actually become reality TV or something. 

Im going against the system and voting for Trump because I like the idea of it. Us Gamblers like Trump because he speaks through the political agendas and gets to the core of our frustrations with this country. 

But I'm still putting my $ on HRC. You should too. In the end if Trump is elected the entertainment value alone is going to be worth losing your Hillary bet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buh-leeve me buh-leeve me.

I also thought Trump nailed it.
He was himself, but didn't cross the line into areas of bad taste.
Trump was strong in his words, yet compassionate towards those whom he needed to be.
He said what needed to be said in the manner it needed to be said.

Does any of it matter come November? Probably not.
But at least for one night, he was able to unify the party and get it headed in the right direction.

When I say "in the right direction" in part I'm referring to this quote from Trump ...
"as your president I will do everything in my power to protect LGBTQ citizens"
And then after hearing the applause that followed the comment, he said "as a Republican, it is so nice to hear you cheering for what I just said"

The GOP party needs to slide to the middle on social issues, and clearly Trump understands that. It is no longer 1950. Changing times requires changing ideals, it's as simple as that

Does that mean protecting those particular citizens from people:


who say that same-sex couples bring on societal collapse? 

that oppose laws that prohibit discrimination against them in the workplace?

that wanted to repeal "don't ask don't tell"?

that rejected the directive on transgender bathrooms?

who believe that keeping same-sex couples from getting married is an enforcement of "God's idea"?


In other words, are you saying that Trump will protect those people from his own Vice President Mike Pence?

I happen to enjoy reading your posts, thus I will not twist your words debating this with you, as you just did to me.

I pointed out something positive that Trump said. It is difficult for anyone to argue that it wasn't positive, as long as they are capable of listening while leaving their preconceived biases out of their thought process for a minute.

My quote was that Trump has the party headed "in the right direction" based upon his comments regarding the LGBTQ community.

If you disagree with that, then express why and we can debate it.

Twisting my words because you feel my opinion comes from the other side of the aisle in which you sit is so Scal-esque

it's hard to see how that statement has any credibility when republicans sign off on one of the most anti-happy platforms this side of somalia and select a holier than thou christian taliban nut for VP.

it's like the browns telling their fans they are a serious football team intending to build a super bowl team and then drafting manziel.

Trump said he would do everything in his power to protect the LGBTQ community. Then after hearing some applause to that comment, he added, and I assume ad-libbed "as a Republican it is nice to hear you cheering for what I just said"

His comment has a great amount of credibility, as he clearly is moving to push the GOP towards the middle on social issues. 

Was this done simply to garner votes? Tough to say, but if it was it would be the first time in this entire process that he made a statement for the sole purpose of appeasing a voting group.

If nothing else, Trump has consistently shown through his words that he cares little what you or I think about him

On a related note, the 'Q' in the acronym LGBTQ seems a little redundant.
Doesn't the L, G, B or T already cover the Q?

I'm no expert on these things, but I'm sure someone within this lifestyle (Scal?) can educate me on it

i certainly agree with this post, read objectively.  but also read in a vacuum because it is hard to ignore that despite his words, his party's actions say something far different. 

it makes me wonder that if he really does want to help this minority group, why not run as an independent.  seems like trump is more suited to be an independent anyway. 

and i also wonder what the Q means that isn't already covered by the other letters.  maybe there are degrees of homosexuality.  there's regular happy (G) and really f*cking flaming and doesn't care who knows it happy (Q).

Yet Hillary and her team of 300+ advisory committee are now trying to say they are the party for everyone, all inclusive, gays, blacks, Browns, cross genders, Spanish speakers, females, Muslims, etc., while Trump excludes. This in itself is helping to fuel separation and division, and is race baiting 101. Nation and sovereignty protection are not race exclusionary tactics. You are falling for the democrats' chant and anti Trump message. Giving certain races more or exclusionary benefits actually fuels further divide and leads to racism. Benefits for emigrating Latinos and dream acts and licenses to drive and work, and none of these are helping, they are creating only resentment.
