That is, at least according to Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, who tweeted Monday night that "Football is officially dead."
The impetus of the tweet was reports that Dallas Cowboys players have been given the "green light" to protest.
Such reports came after defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford said the green light was "to feel however we’re feeling, express how we’re feeling and say whatever we need to say."

Several NFL teams remain off field for national anthem while some players kneel in NFL Week 1
USA TODAY On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and Arizona Cardinals remained off the field for the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner."
The Houston Texans became the first team to stay in the locker room for both the anthem in Thursday's kickoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Several players from the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings took a knee during the anthem, as did Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the Colts said, "We were not protesting the flag, the anthem, or the men and women who wear the uniform. The timing of this action is meant to highlight that the presence, power and oppression of racism remains inconsistent with the unity and freedoms of what it means to be an American."
After the Seahawks kicked off to the Atlanta Falcons, all players on the field took a knee.

Petulant Trump family Says Football Is ‘Boring as Hell’ After Weekend of Anti-Racism Protests
All 22 players on the field at the start of Sunday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons took a knee in protest against racial injustice, and some teams remained in locker rooms during the pregame playing of the national anthem. At an ill-advised packed indoor rally in Henderson, Nevada on Sunday night, Trump said: “Football’s boring as hell. It’s just not the same, right?” Last week, Trump’s son Eric tweeted that “Football is officially dead” after Dallas Cowboys players were given the green light to protest racism. Apparently yes, that's what trump said, because he's an obvious racist like his dad.

Trump says football is ‘boring as hell,’ even as he stumps for more football
That continued a theme sounded by the president’s son, Eric, who tweeted last week that “football is officially dead” after a report that Dallas Cowboys players had been given a “green light” to protest during the national anthem to raise awareness of social injustice and police brutality. “So much for ‘America’s sport.’ Goodbye NFL … I’m gone,” he added.
Though the president on Sunday called football “boring,” he has been vocal in pressing for sports, especially college football, to continue despite concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. Source: https://tinyurl.com/y2da2y39

Mike Ditka again tells NFL players to 'get the hell out' of country after protests but admits he doesn't understand
USA TODAY When it comes to NFL players protesting police brutality and racial injustice during the national anthem, Ditka sounds like a broken record … of the stubbornly misinformed variety.
Back when Colin Kaepernick started his protest by kneeling during the anthem in 2016, Ditka said that Kaepernick should "get the hell out" of the country because Ditka saw the protests as disrespecting the flag.
Fast forward four years as the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor sparked global protests against police brutality, and Ditka still hasn't even tried to listen to the message of the protests.
"I don't really understand what you're protesting. I played the game. I coached the game for a long time. It makes no sense to me." "I would tell those players go to another country and play football there. And if you can't respect this country, get the hell out of it."

INGLEWOOD, Calif.—Defensive tackle Dontari Poe became the first Dallas Cowboys player to kneel during the national anthem.
Before Sunday's game against the Rams, Poe kneeled on the Dallas sideline as defensive line teammates and coaches put hands on his shoulder in support.
More than a dozen of the LA Rams kneeled.

'Football is boring as hell' -- Donald Trump OMG, Sunday NFL was so effing boring! Short list of all the really boring football, just like "adolf" told us: Dallas 40-39 come from way behind win, on final play, following fluke onside kick Jaguars down 10-24 at half then tie the game with 2 mins left Bears up 17-0 at half, only win 17-13 when Giants misfire from Bears 10 on last play Bills 31-28 over Dolphins Broncos down 3-17, roar back to make it close 21-26 Chiefs down 6-17, roar back to win in a nailbiter in OT ... and then Sunday Night's really *BORING* game between Pats and Seahawks only decided on the final play of the game.
the seahawks/patriots game was definitely the most boring football ever . rump is totally right
