CDC says US was slow in recognizing
    the coronavirus threat from Europe

(CNN) Two senior Trump political appointees departed the CDC ,
a senior official at the agency confirmed to CNN.
Kyle McGowan, the chief of staff, and Amanda Campbell, the deputy
chief of staff, resigned effective Friday. The pair had been criticized
by Trump administration officials for not being loyal enough.

The agency's director, Dr. Robert Redfield, admitted
late last month in an interview with ABC News that there have
been issues with the federal response and that   the US was slow
in recognizing the coronavirus threat from Europe.

Yes, farmer trump *partially* closed the front door to the chicken coop, to thwart the foxes from getting in....*partially*....ONLY partially! (a few flights from China).....but he left the back door and both side doors WIDE EFFING OPEN !!!!.....and so as a result:

169,483 dead Americans thanks to trump's early denials and ineptitude.

    Documented FACT!

...with projections now expected to reach 295,000 killed on trump's watch by December

    College towns face a potentially
    devastating economic blow this fall:
      - No football

    CNN Business; August 14, 2020

New York (CNN Business) Missing out on college football games
is more than just a bummer for die-hard fans of the sport.
For university towns and the local businesses that rely on
college football to generate revenue, it's yet another 2020
economic disaster on top of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"No fall football season, unfortunately, will have a
negative economic impact on our county and region"

In Madison, Wisconsin, Badgers football games generate $114 million
for the state each year and employ more than 1,000 people,
according to the university's athletic department.

    the coronavirus threat from Europe

(a few flights from China, but not ALL).....

*AND*he left the back door and both side doors WIDE EFFING OPEN !!!!

    .....and so as a result:

169,754 dead Americans thanks to trump's early denials and ineptitude.

    Documented FACT!

...with projections now expected to reach 295,000 killed on trump's watch by December an_cry!!

    Official U.S. coronavirus death toll
is ‘a substantial undercount’ of actual tally,
    YALE study finds

The number of confirmed U.S. deaths due to the coronavirus
is substantially LOWER than the true tally, according to a
study published Wednesday in JAMA Internal Medicine.

“Our analyses suggest that the official tally of deaths due to
Covid-19 represent a substantial undercount of the true burden,”
Dan Weinberger, an epidemiologist at Yale School of Public Health
and a lead author of the study, told CNBC.

Covid-19 is now the No. 3 cause of death in the US
    thanks to president donald trump,
but testing to find and isolate cases has dropped off

The nationwide cases numbers are dropping in LARGE part becuase trump ordered reduced testing (and not being in any way supportive of testing) and the numbers being sieved through the White House now, NOT through the CDC as before. trump wants to see the actual numbers and control the narrative to make it seem as if HE was right and the virus is rapidly disappearing.

    The reverse is true.

    Boeing plans more job cuts
on top of  16,000 announced this spring

    New York (CNN Business)
The aircraft maker has been hit by hundreds of canceled orders as airlines
struggle with a plunge in demand for air travel during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The pandemic has been tough on our people, our business and our industry.
While there have been some signs of recovery, the reality is we're in a
challenging position," said CEO Dave Calhoun in a message to Boeing (BA)
employees Monday. He said there would be a new round of buyouts offered
    to employees next week.

Earlier this year 5,500 Boeing employees agreed to take buyout packages
and leave the company voluntarily. The company then laid off another
6,800 in May. But even as it prepared for additional cuts to hit the 16,000
target, the long-term production plans changed for the worse.

    Trump embraces QAnon conspiracy
    because:  'they like me'

After skirting the issue for weeks, President Donald Trump offered an embrace
Wednesday of the fringe internet phenomenon QAnon, praising its followers
for supporting him and shrugging off its outlandish conspiracies.

"I don't know much about the movement other than I
understand they like me very much, which I appreciate,"
Trump said in the White House briefing room.

It was a striking nod to a group that has been likened to a virtual cult and
has been labeled a potential domestic terrorist threat by the FBI.

QAnon's prevailing conspiracy theories — none based in fact — claim
dozens of Satan-worshipping politicians and A-list celebrities work in tandem
with governments around the globe to engage in child sex abuse.

Followers also believe there is a "deep state" effort to annihilate Trump,
and allege baseless theories surrounding mass shootings and elections.
Followers have falsely claimed that 5G cellular networks are spreading
    the coronavirus.

    American initial jobless claims
    above 1 million ...again

    From CNN's Anneken Tappe

Another 1.1 million Americans filed initial claims for unemployment
benefits on a seasonally adjusted basis last week.

Economists were optimistic that the US jobs market would be on a steady
trajectory toward recovery. But last week's claims returned above 1 million
after the previous week's report was the first below 1 million since March,
the Department of Labor reported Thursday

Continued jobless claims, counting people who have filed claims for
at least two weeks in a row, remain very high at 14.8 million.

The road to recovery remains long and arduous. The Federal Reserve said
Wednesday that any rebound of the jobs market depends on a reopening
and businesses, which in turn depends on the path of the virus and
what we do (trump admin) to contain it.

trajectory toward recovery.
