UPS spouses may have difficulty finding similar coverage at their own employers. The $500 in-network family deductible for UPS’s basic plan, for example, is less than the nationwide average of $733, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation
So is this:
"those days of where you used to sit down with your spouse and go over each other's benefit plans and pick the best one, those days are probably over."

Anyway, this is nice:

Just about anything you've said on this topic is factually false and as has already been pointed out, UPS isn't the only one saying ObamaCare has led to this.
You responding by "they're lying" is comical and ineffective.
So what is factually false?
I didnt say they were lying, I said they were making up figures and I asked you, the thread creator what the figure is relative to their TOTAL employee healthcare outlay.
So which of my comments are factually false and how can you PROVE it? I am growing tired of your defensive nonsense and I am actually going to call you on this one..
Prove your comment or retract it..

Wow.
You didn't say they were lying, you said they were making it up!
I guess giving the media a "made up" figure isn't "lying" it is....well, you can guess what it is.
Everything you've posted is factually false. To see how & why, re-read the above until it sinks in.

All of them.
And to prove it: we see someone say UPS is "struggling" (when they think it is convenient) then we see the same someone say that $60 million in health care costs is "chump change" (there is no "struggling" company in the history of the world that would have $60 million be chump change) when that false statement didn't pan out.
Now that the % of the earnings relative to the $60 million has been pointed out, and the other 2 tactics didn't work, you're now demanding total health care cost outlays as if that advances any discussion.
Here is a tip: when facts are presented to you and your 1st, and continued, response to facts is to deny them, you're not able to "call out" anyone or anything.
I'd add: your comments have followed a pattern typical of someone who has no actual interest in the topic and is perhaps trolling. Which is:
1. Pretend "what is the big deal" (post 6)
2. Make stuff up/look to change the topic (post 10, 28)
3. When disputing facts becomes too laughable, blame the source (post 33)
4. Engage in self-refuting and contradictory posts (post 6, 28, 48) and circle back to it is all "made up"
As we see you don't see to want to do anything other than say "nuh-uh" when ObamaCare is criticized.

Well, yes I have, and I guess people who say things such as: "I didnt say they were lying, I said they were making up figures" aren't going to get it.
Which is fine.
As I said, your posts on this topic have been quite revealing.
Well lookie lookie..
14 can dish the crap but cannot back it up..as we all know so well.
You have not proven anything, proof is not subjective. The comment you quote above is PROOF of this. I said they were making up numbers, did I reference anything or state that this is fact? I said several times above that they were playing the "blame the government" game..that is my OPINION. You cannot disprove an opinion without fact. You have no fact on anything you are arguing here.
I dont care if you disagree with me, hey we all disagree with each other..your problem is you toss around the lumber in a condescending and pathetic way. Dont come after me with that garbage unless you can back it up WITH fact.
Why not just back off the moronic tough guy talk and disagree with my opinion and state your own and maybe we have a respectful discussion and leave the other crap out of it.

Looks like Republican are not the only ones pointing fingers and bashing Obamacare ..
The AFL-CIO in Nevada has passed a resolution to openly criticize the Obama administration over Obamacare, again stressing the situation needs to be fixed by the very people who created it.
The resolution claims the law could end up "destroying" the unions' multi-employer health plans if the administration doesn't come up with a regulatory fix.
"We want to hold the president to his word that you can keep the plan you like," UNITE-HERE President D.Taylor added.

So if a worker has a spouse that has coverage with another plan then they arent able to be covered with the UPS plan.
How is that a disaster? Smells like UPS trying to save some coin and blame the government again.
If its not the governments "fault" , whos is it? Who else is pushing Obama Care?
Of course UPS is gonna try to save money, they are in the business of making money. Not sure why you always try to defend the government and assume they arent gonna f uck people....

Honestly, I dont know why he argues with you. I guess maybe because you represent the american public that thinks they know whats going on becuase they watch cnn .....

Yeah of course you are on his side, you have a chip on your shoulder and share the same characteristics..try and act tough, come with no substance and get all pissy when someone calls you on it.
Great example in this thread..what have you done outside make a few snide comments towards me? Anything at all?
Keep trying to attack, it makes you look weak..if you want to come at me, keep the personal garbage out..come with debatable content and be respectful or dont be shocked when I reply to the above crap you try and smear.
So why did UPS need to blame the government again? Why this year are they b!tching when for the last two decades the costs of healtcare keep going up and up and up..
Corps who blame the government for their shortcomings are acting like spoiled children..UPS has enough money on hand where they could EASILY shoulder the cost and not cry about it. MANY corporations deal with rising costs and arent babies like this.

I'm on his side because hes right. Silly me.
You keep talking about this tough guy....where is he?
I work in the healthcare industry and read and hear people/doctors etc talk everyday. I know more about whats "real" than most on this site for sure.
Healthcare has been rising for the last 2 decades, true. Now, in a year, its getting ready to EXPLODE. many corporations do deal with it, but many WONT in the next couple years. I dont know where your debatable content is......
The writings on the wall....pun intended.

I dont take issue with someone disagreeing. I take issue with insults and generalities.
He likes to act tough by claiming altruistic fact and proof, then does not provide it.
I dont mind if you do not agree, I dont really care for hit and run garbage that you are always doing. If you want to debate then state WHAT you disagree with, WHY you disagree with it, and what your POSITION is and WHY..
You fail to do that..in your post above you do not address anything with regard to which issues you disagree with, what reasons you have, what facts or data or secondary opinion..just the usual ineffective jabs which never have worked, never will work.
I am glad you work with doctors, what does that mean anyway? You spend one line saying you are in the industry and have nothing else to add of value..so in a year costs are going to explode..WHY do you think that, what reasons do you have as to this happening?
And lastly..what alternative do you present outside b!tching about me and Obamacare? I'd like to hear your constructive ideas about how to make things better..if I want to hear how crappy Obama is I can find that in spades here..but any solutions or improvements and I hear crickets...

Wall, UPS and the rest of corps wouldn't be getting out of insurance if the Feds weren't getting into it. Feds want to punish those who have traditionally been the insurance providers for millions so what would one expect the blowback to be?
The 60M figure has nothing to do with the subject matter. It does not matter what a company used to outlay or will have to outlay. What matters is now they have a choice thanks to Obamacare.
Is anyone really surprised this is the end result? And I do agree with 14 that this shift in company philosophy is directly related to Obamacare.

See I dont buy that..
Nothing has happened yet to make a reaction like this, it is to a degree very speculative..nothing is known and there are many changes which will come.
UPS does not need to take this action, some corps will and some wont. Some will and make a public event of it, others will do so without the fanfare.
The larger issue is not the change, rather if you dislike the change what would you suggest that might make a systemic improvement?
Tort reform is not a systemic solution, so lets hear what solutions there are instead of the non-stop complaining..

As of right now, the only thing happening is premiums continuing to rise- That is nothing new- For sure, projected increases / changes should be a cause for concern- but I have yet to see any tangible evidence that anyone is currently paying more specifically because of ACA-
Our premiums went up another 20% this year, but that's really pretty much in line with what has happened for the past few years- usually between 10-20% per renewal cycle-
The one thing that has definitely increased is our manpower needs now that electronic medical records are the "standard"- that definitely has decreased efficiency-
I'm still not sure how much of that can be put on ACA since that change has been in process for several years now- the whole " meaningful use" initiative is a disaster- with plenty of blame to be placed on every sector involved- from the regulatory bodies to the software developers and even, to done extent, the providers-

They passed the law and now employers have a choice. That's what has happened. Threaten biz with this and that and there will be a reaction. That and most people know this law is a freakin' mess in the making. Anything the Feds get into becomes a mess. History does repeat itself. Definition of insanity

I hope many of us can make it working part-time and signing up to go to the DMV for healthcare, because that's where this is going. The man said he wanted to "Transform the U.S.". He's doing EXACTLY that, converting us into a banana republic everyday of his regime. I hope all you good libs are happy watching our way of life get dismantled.

I would rather complain right now just as ups has done by their reaction. Not many think this law is or ever was the right answr
Ok so we are back to the unanswered question..
We cannot go the way we have for the last 20 yrs. The only party that seems to put ANYTHING on the table is the dems..good or bad they put something out there.
Repubs/Indy just throw rocks and have no solutions.
So now that we know everyone hates it, what is the plausible proposal from those who hate it so much?
With nothing being done my benefits are going down, down, down, costs going up up up..does not sound like a properly functioning system here.
If costs are going up no matter what then I would rather at least give options to people who cannot find a plan because the private sector does not offer to a big slice of the population.
Something has to be done..

Daroad, you should be happy as hell over this clause in obamacare, since it helps companies save money and we all now how you are a huge corporation groupie.
This means now if both spouses work jobs that provide health insurance, then each spuse needs to get their insurance from their own employee. As it is now, a lot of companies and public jobs, a spouse can get a nice big fat check to take the other spouses insurance plan.
Lets do an example, husband works at UPS, wife works as a teacher. The wife takes lets say 8k buyout not to take husbands insurance plan. So UPS has to pay more for employees insurance plan.
Now with the clause, UPS wont have to pay for the wifes plan, thus saving the corporation money, which we all know you love to see.
So really being upset about a corporation saving some money doesnt make sense coming from a corporation cheerleader.
Truth is you are a bitter person who just loves to spend all your time posting on a gambling forum about Obama.
In 10 years you are going to look back on your life and wish that you hadnt wasted 8 years of life bashing Obama everyday. It will be to late thou, because you cant get those minutes back. Now carry on Grumpy

Despite claims, businesses aren't dropping health benefits en masse in response to rising costs and Obamacare reforms. According to Kaiser Foundation survey of over 2000 companies, share of companies offering benefits is 57% which is about the same as 2012. Also average 4% increase in premiums in 2013 which is less than in previous years.
Healthcare reform isn't supposed to benefit the healthy. It is designed to serve needs of the sickest and most vulnerable. Obamacare prevents insurers denying coverage. Guaranteed coverage is supported by a majority of Americans.
