Puerto Rico was a disaster way before the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria....45 % of Puerto Ricans were living in poverty before the hurricane and island’s economy has been in recession for nearly 10 years, with an high unemployment.. The island is riddled with corruption..when they declared bankruptcy last year they were $70 Billion of debt...
All that and Puerto Rico doesn't qualify as a shithole country,, only because it's not a country it is a territory..
Having said all that... let us not forget that Puerto Ricans are US citizens and this is a humanitarian disaster...they need more help ..America should speed up our relief effort..
One other thing,, if President Trump inherited this the roaring economy were are experiencing from Obama ...he also inherited PR from him..

Where my conservative friends seem to bring up our founding fathers disagreements with England. Here might be a shocker we fought the revolutionary war for taxation without representation in parliament. Puerto Rico has no representative vote in the house and senate thus they are exempt from federal America. We the people’s representative in Congress appropriated 93 billion to rebuild hence 93 billion should be spent.

Will none of the idiots ever learn? This time it is good old Sarasota Slim with another Obama-Trump thing
“One other thing, if President Trump inherited this the roaring economy were are (we’re or we are, Slim) experiencing from Obama ...he also inherited PR from him..”
Puerto Rico has been an American “Commonwealth” (puke) since 1898 and treated like an ugly step-child for 119 years, but; an idiot can always find a way. Good job, Slim. What president of either party has ever done anything positive for Puerto Rico?
What the U.S. has done to/for a supposed commonwealth (puke) is absolutely nothing. Trump never wanted to help in the first place, after all; he does not own a condominium golf resort there. He has no personal or financial involvement there, no big military installations to throw money at, and that makes Puerto Rico irrelevant and unimportant in the grand scheme of Trump-Republican plans.
To turn our backs on an essentially American possession because it is a sh/thole commonwealth is just about the height of hubris and immorality. Good job Donald, Schumer, Slim, and all those that can find a way to not punish themselves over this inhumane and immoral treatment of Puerto Rico.
The amount of taxation derived from Puerto Rico is another irrelevant, self-serving, self-justifying piece of bool-sheet. When people have nothing but poverty in the first place, what are they supposed to pay taxes on?
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Wrong again Slim. U.S. tropps invaded P.R. on July 25, 1898 and Spain did not officially cede P.R. until April 11, 1899. The earliest American prescence is still less than 200 years.

For someone who calls others idiots ..you sure have a problem with math and numbers...and you need to drop that extra "c" in presence.....you really need to calm down.. you even s stuttered in your last post..
Treaty of Paris of 1898 was an agreement made in 1898.. The final treaty was concluded in Paris on December 10, 1898 ..and the United States started flying our flag over their buildings at that time..
The formal transfer of the island of Puerto Rico to the United States was in 1898 at the end of
the Spanish-American War.

Let's face it covers brothers and sistas, a geographical genius our President Dope is NOT. As recently as October 2017 he refereed to Governor Kenneth Mapp as "President" of the Virgin Islands.
UMMMMM. Mr. President, sir, the USA has 14 Territories worldwide and YOU are President of them all.
If this wasn't so utterly embarrassing it would be laughable.

All true Slim, but none of it before 1/28/1898, still at 119 years, not 120.
But, then again,If,, by your claim that ...Spain did not officially cede P.R. until April 11, 1899...it would be 118 years not 119 years and definitely nowhere near 200 years..........
