Owning small positions in Apple, Tesla & Qualcomm still doesn't make me smile or forget how the market has tanked.
Not trying to be a David Dennison Downer but let's stay real here.

I just named a few investments that got hammered in the last few months that also happen to be my favorites among others. We are totally diversified as I'm sure most are.

Has that spending and debt now?

@UNIMAN
So a 6 year bump and that is your comment? My reply was not partisan it was based on very acute economic truth. In 2018 this was pre-covid and ZIRP was strongly in place, no issues economically and yet Trump ran massive deficits and debt. What was inaccurate with my comment? When economic times are good you reduce debt and run a surplus to prepare for the future economic issues which always come. No, Trump played spectacle fake games and tried to punish China with tariffs and of course they did not work and here we are.
So what part of my message was deserving of a 5.5 year bump? And why were you bumping threads anyway, are you needing some attention?

Trump promised to increase US exports and manufacturing but failed. He signed a trade deal with China. Instead China imports from US barely budged. Now he wants higher tariffs on all imports from all countries if re-elected. However Biden tariffs appear more strategic and could give US electric vehicle industry time to grow. Without tariffs, US cars could be undercut by cheaper imports.

Mainly because Biden putting on all sorts of new tariffs now. I think he mentioned that in one of the other tariff threads.
No need to start a new thread when there are already some old tariff threads.

@Raiders22
Nice partisan comment but given your funny logic there would be zero new threads ever created because you can always find another one that existed previously, even when you trail back over five years to find one. What a complete waste of time bumping threads to suggest a new thread does not serve a purpose. Isnt there more valuable things that can be done which add value than yet another stupid attempt to rub crap in the face of the other party?
Time for you guys to grow up and quit being morons.

@wallstreetcappers
Correct. It is partisan because Biden is the one doing it now.
If you feel that a new tariff thread concerning Biden should be started -- go ahead and start a new one.
Nonsense to say a new thread would never be started -- there are plenty of topics that have not been covered before. But this one has been.
But I can see how starting a new thread about Biden's tariffs might be better.
Then it would for sure be partisan.
It certainly serves a purpose if someone wants to discuss it -- that is what the forum is for.
Are you for the tariffs or not? Why, or why not?
It is also probably past time for you to stop calling people 'morons' and saying they should 'grow up'.

For example:
Inconveniently for the administration’s new push for tariffs, nobody has rebutted the dubious economics of protectionism better than Joe Biden. Slamming the trade warfare of Donald Trump in 2019, Biden ridiculed the notion “tariffs are being paid by China.” As the then-candidate continued, “Any freshman econ student could tell you that the American people are paying his tariffs.” A few months later, Biden once again condemned Trump’s “irresponsible tariff war with China,” pledging to “reverse his senseless policies.” In office, however, Biden has proved as unfree a trader as his predecessor, subordinating his erstwhile clarity to aspirations for industrial policy and central planning.
Tariffs, like any taxes, raises prices. Justification for this new batch stems primarily from Biden’s disbelief in economic tradeoffs. The president aims to have his cake and ensure it’s made in America, too. It seeks a breakneck transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and solar power. But simultaneously, it will levy prohibitively high tariffs to bar foreign manufacturers from providing low-cost and consumer-friendly products that would speed that transition.
