This is what you get from the Democrats on this site. Instead of applauding the deal with hope, you get pessimism. Nancy Pelosi sets the tone by dissing the peace deal as a distraction, thus making this sort of pessimistic behavior somehow acceptable. She may be 70 something years old, but she acts like a child. Her day is coming. Both Republicans and Democrats are tiring of her childish tantrums. She may just get replaced as speaker of the house.

Obviously you don't own a small business. If you did, you would understand that corporate tax rates never apply. Small businesses (dependent upon 'C' or 'S' corps but most are 'S' corp "pass-throughs") are taxed measured as gross receipts minus expenses, with salary inclusive as expenses. Thus, the effective tax rates are measured against the overall profits. They would never be close to 32% or 38%. 

Now, if you want to talk about how Democrats hurt such businesses by the minimum wage, paid leave, overtime, increase in unemployment benefits, or Republicans whose tax breaks for the larger corporations hurt small businesses who generally have higher cost of goods and cannot compete with such an advantage, I'm game. 

Otherwise, go back to your partisan ramblings. 

djbrow - I have owned a small business for 30 years - I am a "C" corporation. The effective tax rate on your overall profits is currently

             at 21%. In the Obama era it was 32%. And yes I know all you stated. Not getting the "partisan rambling" comment. Strictly a

             business comment. Here's my position politically- Joe's gonna raise our taxes - personal and business wise- right? So there you

Only 6% of small businesses are 'C' corps so you hardly speak for small businesses. Your advantages are in payroll and deductions that were actually increased under Obama. The cap of 21% is applicable to you but you lost several of your deductions. 

I am not excited for a 'D' controlled government but then again, an 'R' controlled government didn't seem to make much a difference from 2016-2018. 

djbrow - what % did you pay on your profit last year? The main thing that keeps the % down are obviously major expenses (In my

             case vehicles). This will however come back and bite me in the ass because I usually write the entire vehicle off that year versus

             a depreciation schedule. However, my average over last ten years is between 18-24%. I have a very innovative accountant. I do

             stand corrected on the "corporate" tax statement. But still I feel the corporate tax rate should remain at 21% do to the fact that

             companies are reinvesting because the simply can at that rate.

dj - I didn't know the 6% figure. That boggles my mind. My accountant told me "C" is a better fit for my business. What is the major

      difference between C and S. Is there a major difference? I am curious. My accountant surely explained it to me but that was decades ago

wage is a necessity for small business especially and larger businesses when applicable. Example: Mcd's should not have to pay 15.00 per hour for several

reasons- Jobs are usually for kids getting a start (Even tho the elderly are involved also) As for small business, payroll is probably the number one expense

that has to be maintained at an appropriate level. $15.00 an hour would close alot of small business. You know when some politician says 15.oo minimum

that it cost our business a helluva lot more than just that 15 (the 7.5% ss and med - unemployment on wages- ira distribution if you have one). that doesn't get calculated when government is screamin for 15 an hour. What say you/

Wow, a lot there. I'm sure your accountant knows what he/she is doing in your situation so I leave that to them. The main differences between C and S deal with deductions. Cs are effectively double taxed but that matters less if salary payouts are a smaller percentage of expenses. This conceptually makes sense. For example, if a C holder wants to keep their salary at a minimum and rely on profits only, they would be assisted by the tax cap. 

You are newer here but I have never been for an increase in minimum wage outside of cost of living as determined by GDP. The problem is that neither party seems to care that Walmarts have such an unfair advantage over small businesses. Have you ever seen a Walmart close?

With COVID, small businesses that sell goods and restaurants, bars, etc. (not my kind of business) are faring worse than ever. They will need some innovative assistance and it would be better to pay attention to this issue rather than perpetual increases in unemployment.
