-Leaderboard is based on total units.
-ATS selections based on availability.

The Top 5 Grand Prizes for the Contest will be awarded through a random draw at the conclusion of the Contest from all successful entries through the duration of the Office Pool.
 
A single Draw Entry is given to everyone who successfully registers with betED and joins the Office Pool.  Extra entries can be won through the duration of the Office Pool by winning Weekly Prizes and placing in the Top 5 Finishers.  See below for further details on entry qualification and restrictions.

Grand Prize Overview:
 
• The 5 Grand Prizes will be awarded through a draw at the end of the Contest.
• Every time a contestant wins the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place weekly prize, they gain the specified extra entries into the Grand Prize Draw in addition to their existing entries.
• Contest is open to US citizens only.
• The Top 5 Final Leaderboard winner contestants at the end of the Contest will gain the specified extra entries into the Grand Prize Draw in addition to any existing entries.
• As such, a contestant may have their name entered multiple times into the Grand Prize draw at the end of the contest.
Prize Requirements & Eligibility:
• All winners must have a registered betED account.
• To be eligible for the Grand Prize Draw, all accounts must have wagered a minimum of $100 or more prior to Sunday, Jan 3rd 2010 at 1pm ET.
• Weekly winners must have a registered betED account and have made at least one wager at the Sportsbook during the 2009/10 NFL Season.  *Your wager must be made anytime before Sunday 1pm EST of your prize winning week.
• 5x rollover required on all weekly Free Play contest prizes. For example if you win the $100 weekly 3rd place prize you will need to wager $100x 5 for a total of $500 in the sportsbook before you can request a withdrawal.
• Top 5 Grand Prizes awarded through Draw can be selected as credits to your existing betED Account.

Tuesday September 8th, 2009 through Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Tie Breaker Rules:
 
For members who are tied with equal units:
(1) Winning percentage
(2) Total number of picks
(3) Member who made the first pick within the contest (time stamp).

From the rules: "Weekly winners must have a registered betED account and have made at least one wager at the Sportsbook during the 2009/10 NFL Preseason."

So, since I haven't made a preseason wager, this disqualifies me from the weekly prizes? That hardly seems sporting.

Directly after that rule (which I'm hoping is a typo) it states, "*Your wager must be made anytime before Sunday 1pm EST of your prize winning week."

So which is it?

Thanks for catching the typo.  I've updated the rule listing, it was supposed to be "during the 2009/10 NFL Season" of course.

Please clarify rule for collecting $500 as week 3 winner.

If I make a bet prior to January 2010, is the $500 credited to my account?

I finished 2nd in week 4 and will receive nothing because I did not make a wager yet. I am very dissapointed because I feel that the rules were not clear. I have read several posts in the forum from others and it seems like many people are not clear on the rules and thats a shame because this had the potential of being a great free pool but as I said there was confusion in your rules. Lou I am very curious and I hope you answer this honostly, of the 12 contestants that have finished in the top 3 so far this year, how many have actually won the money based on the rule of making a bet that week. my guesss is 3 maximum. There are some great free pool sites out there and by far bet365 has the best free pools and I suggest everyone try them at bet365.net. They do not have rules that are confusing. I have been an internet gambler for more that 10 yerars now and I must say that the confusion from this would make me never become a betED customer, sorry but thats how I feel. I await the response to my question. Thanks Lou

i agree with you jmirrett, i wasnt clear on the rules either but now i am, BetED just proves they they are a bush league operation, if they can't even be clear with their rules you think i'd trust them with my money, thats a joke

i don't beleive its a scam but rather a poorly run pool where they do not make the rules very clear. i also saw no where in the rules that it stated this pool was not available for canadian customers. they just need to be taught to be more clear in expaining what to do to take part so they dont waste peoples time. look at bet365.net for some great free pools with properly explained rules ans no rediculus stipulations on getting your money you won, they are a properly run company. Lou has not responded to any of my e-mails in over 10 days now so don't count on a response from this idiot regarding your questions

I would like to thank Lou for responding to me and it seems as if I was not contacting him the best way, now that I have, he is looking into my issues. I appologize for the remarks I made about him. it was out of frustration and the feeling of being ignored. I am not looking to get anything other than a response to my question about the rules not being clear and the fact that it necer stated that betED is not open to Canadian customers so technically I shouldn't even be allowed to participate. I feel sorry for anyone who has won but doesn't get anything because they were also unclear on the rules, It is so hard to finish in the top 3 in a pool where there is 1600 competitors and then to get nothing because they were unclear of the rules. feel free to let mw know if I am right or wrong, I am just speaking for those of us that kinda feel shafted

Hey Guys,

 

First I would like to let everyone know that when I set up this pool I was sure I added in bold that Canadians were not eligible for prizes and I would appreciate if they didn’t enter this contest. Obviously I over looked this and I apologize to everyone who didn’t know betED doesn’t excepts Canadians. As most of you know I too am Canadian and I can’t wager at betED either. If they ever change this I will most certainly open a account and wager here.

Hello Lou you are the best at explaining this stuff, thank you. Obviously, I am just like everyone else on here but at this point I am just playing for pride. Some contest are just for Canadians as well, what is everybody's beef? Of course, they want to drag you into gambling a lot of money that is a their job! My only remaining question is: can you qualify for televisions and the other top five contest prize winnings if you indeed make a deposit and wager by the stated date? I would like to thank you for thorough explanations as always, but it doesn't seem to be real clear on "prizes" that are not cash (weekly or final). In other words, do any of us qualify for the grand prizes excluding cash and gambling accounts if we do well in here. I look forward to your feedback, but I think I already know the answer is no gambling no prizes!!

Hey there Lou,

I was just wondering if I make a deposit into BetED now, would I still get the entries from the week I won previously?  Also would I still be eligible for the Grand Prize?  Another question is if those that aren't eligible win one of the final drawings for the grand prize is the prize just forfeited or do you draw again for someone that is eligible?  If that is the case (and I wouldn't be surprised if it is so BetED doesn't have to fork out any prizes) I do not want to make a deposit and wager with a book that I will never use.  I know now I am in first place but really in this pool that means shit since it is all just entries to a drawing that you win.  This has to be one of the poorest pools out there, they may as well say you need 11 fingers to be eligible for a prize and even then you have to go into a random drawing and if there is anyone with 12 fingers you are screwed.  I do like to be in first place though so I can't complain.  4th place in the NFL league championship, 4th place on BetPhoenix NFL (Betphoenix is great they gave me $200 even without making a deposit when I won a week).

For Weekly Prizes, note that you were supposed to have signed up by Sunday at 1pm EST of your prize winning week.

To be eligible for the Grand Prize Draw, all accounts must have wagered a minimum of $100 or more prior to Sunday, Jan 3rd 2010 at 1pm ET.

It's hard for the books to make exceptions when these rules are posted early and clearly, but if you have issues send me an e-mail at communitylou@covers.com and I'll try to help you out.
