everyone is worried about Manning... but really, how many points do the Colts have to score to cover a 9.5 point spread in this game?
 
i'm thinking 10 is enough... Colts D is going to have a field day against the absolutely horrible Bears O-line... Orton is better than Grossman... but is no prize... and once the Bears get into a catch up situation where Orton has to start making plays, instead of playing close to the vest, i expect the Colts to take advantage and get a TD on defense...
 
 
i bet this one a month ago, and bought the hook to get it down to 1 TD...

Really want to take the colts on this one. But im just worried that they will have trouble scoring. I hope im wrong.
 
First game for the colts in their brand new stadium, sunday night football, week 1...that place should be rolling. Maybe a little too loud for Orton.

I wonder how the Colts offense will be without Saturday at center? Peyton and the O could come out rusty, but then again the Bears suck..

When I look at this game, all I think about is week 1 last year in the primetime opener when they played the Saints....and destroyed them. I had much higher hopes for the Saints then than I do now for the Bears. The week 1 pounding from the Colts sent the Saints to an 0-4 start...it could look like 0 and who knows start for Chicago. With all that said -9.5 look fine with me.

Manning underwent surgery on July 14 to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee, then missed all of training camp and didn't practice until Aug. 26. Though he didn't throw a single pass in the preseason, Manning will be on the field Sunday making his 161st straight regular-season start

While Manning is complemented by third-year running back Joseph Addai, who rushed for 1,072 yards and 12 TDs in 2007, and his customary talented receiving corps with Reggie Wayne (104 receptions, 1,510 yards, 10 TDs in 2007) and a healthy Marvin Harrison, there are some immediate issues on the offensive line.

Three-time Pro Bowl center Jeff Saturday is out with a right knee injury, while starting guard Ryan Lilja hasn't fully recovered from offseason knee surgery and will miss the first six weeks. Rookie Jamey Richard is expected to replace Saturday.

Still Love the Colts to win big. New Stadium, on turf, Bears aren't that great.

Kyle Orton beat out former Super Bowl quarterback Rex Grossman for the starting job. He will lead a offense that ranked 27th in the NFL (293.2 ypg) in 2007, then lost top receiver Bernard Berrian to free agency. Further complicating matters, running back Cedric Benson was released following two offseason alcohol-related arrests.

Orton is 12-6 as a starter in three seasons with the Bears. He completed 43 of 80 passes for 478 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in three games last year.

"I've been in the system a lot longer. I've been in the NFL a lot longer. And I'm a better pro," Orton said.

Second-round draft pick Matt Forte will open the season as Chicago's starting running back, becoming the first Bears rookie to do so since Walter Payton in 1975.

"It means a lot and it's an honor for me to put that uniform on and go out there as a rookie and start a game," said Forte, who carried 27 times for 94 yards in the preseason.

Chicago is 4-1 in the regular season versus the Colts since that franchise moved to Indianapolis from Baltimore prior to the 1984 season.

two key things to watch for...
 
1) the Colts defense... most of the Colts significant injuries are on offense right now, and when this defense is healthy it can win games without the help of the offense... which is scary considering you have Manning, Wayne, Clark and Addai on the offense... this defense looks like the best the Colts have had under Dungy...
 
2) the Martian... if Marvin is out there making plays and looking sharp, it is going to energize everyone... and i don't just mean the team, i mean the stadium... and when that stadium is rocking it can be pretty overwhelming...
 
 
first look kind of scares you back from this line, but i feel pretty comfortable that they will win by more than 2 TDs...

Should this one be over at half? Colts have very good Passing Defense and one hell of a Passing Offense. Correct me if I am wrong.

so many questions about this game makes it so much harder to chose...
pretty much it boils down to manning being unconditioned and possibly rusty...

have 11 in row last 3 days in ncaa nfl on 9ers 4 12 in a row will post picks later and post bears-colts pick, the 9ers will control the game on defense and will run the ball right thru the middle of this cardinal defense that is suspect to the run more times than not and I dont see the cardinal staying close in this one 3.7 units 49erml

I'm hearing about a lot of infighting in the Bears lockerroom between linebackers and d-line. It's NOT a together team.  The Bears O is weak. This is a cover by the Colts and under.

seems like the teams that are supposed to be dominating are,  pats are an exception with the loss of brady in the 1st qrt.  looking to see another dominating performance by a far superior team the colts.  not sure on the over due to the fact that the bears offense looks to be horrible on paper anyways.  colts should cover this one by a safe margin.
