McCoy left Texas with a briefcase full of records and im not in any big rush to jump on Steelers and give up 2 TDs when all i remember Colt McCoy doing was winning. And not just in college. In high school, he also won some championships and even played safety. im not saying he's the next big thing but i really think he's better than what they have cuzz Seneca is a loser and Jake is a worn out flake of a quarterback. McCoy was instrumental in their preseason win over Chicago and it was the only time they gave him significant playing time. They played him thru midway 3rd quarter and he left the game tied 10-10. Yeah, that's only preseason but it showed me he was capable of making plays happen with BACKUPS.
i think 13.5 pts is outrageous for a division rivalry and i see the books gettin rich off this game cuzz i cant imagine too many people bettin cleveland

I don't usually play 1H wagers in the NFL b/c of the parity, but I think the value/edge in this game is with the Steelers at the half. Here's why:
I don't want to take a rookie QB (undersized, unproven) going up against the best D in the league. Even if he was someone like Bradford, it's not like the Browns are stacked with weapons on offense. They are going to need to be able to run the ball consistently to help Mccoy, and the Steelers know this and will take that away. I don't see Mccoy being able to muster much in his first game.
I don't like laying DD points though. If there is one thing I've learned in the last three years with the NFL, there is no value laying a bunch of points no matter how bad/good you think a team is.
I think the Steelers come out, establish the run, most likely the D creates either turnovers or short fields for Big Ben. That should be more than enough for the Steelers to cover 7.5. Colt will have trouble early on. I also think Big Ben being back will amp the Steelers up a little. My hunch is Steelers roll something like 35-10. But my bigger hunch is that the Steelers will shut Mccoy and the Browns down early and get up by 8 (at the very least) by halftime. Something like 17-3 or 17-7 at the worst.
Steelers 1H -7.5 GL ALL whatever way you go on this game...

13.5 is NOT too many to lay. 1) McCoy is making his firs start against the #1 Defense, 2) Hillis isn't 100%, and 3) Big Ben (as much as I hate him as a person) is back. This will be the usual Cleveland romp.

Go with the steelers my friends. Their d is enough to shut em down and with Ben back they will roll. Steelers for the large. The spread is just trying to even the action

This is the the same colt mccoy that ran into the alabama line and barely got hit and sat out the rest of the game. If he thinks that hurt wait till the steelers smack his wussy ass. He is a quiter.

Ben Roethlisberger looks to make a seamless transition back into the Steelers offense as Pittsburgh welcomes the Cleveland Browns to Heinz Field.
Over the past 10 years, the Steelers and Browns has been a pretty one-sided rivalry as the Steelers own a 17-2 record in the series since 2001. One of those two wins did come in the last meeting between the two teams, however, so avenging that loss will surely be on the Steelers agenda as they continue their quest for the post-season.
The Browns have played gritty and stayed in the game everytime they've taken the field this season, but find a way to take themselves out of it each time in the fourth quarter. Most recently, a Jake Delhomme pick six was the dagger in week five after the Browns defense kept the score close for three quarters against Atlanta. Offensively, Seneca Wallace was proving a capable QB to complement a bulldozing ground attack led by Peyton Hillis, but his injury could doom this team to familiar futility. Delhomme finished the game 13/23 for 97 yards with 2 interceptions and a QB rating of 30.5. It's possible Delhomme's ankle injury was to blame for the poor performance but it seems more plausible that the Browns wasted millions of dollars in signing a veteran that just can't play the game effectively anymore. Reports are stating that Colt McCoy could even get the start against the Steelers which looks potentially even more disastrous than if Delhomme plays. Peyton Hillis has been a stud at RB but is dealing with his own injury and was frequently seen on the sideline bike last week with tightness in his thigh. Even at full strength, he'll struggle to make the same impact against a stingy Steelers defense fresh off a bye. Defensively, the Browns have struggled to contain top receivers as Anquan Boldin, Terell Owens, and Roddy White have all had big games the past three weeks. Whether or not Mike Wallace will be able to beat Eric Wright deep remains to be seen. The Browns were absolutely gashed by Michael Turner last game who amassed 140 yards on 19 carries last time out. On special teams, the Browns do have one of the best weapons in the game in Joshua Cribbs, and may need him to contribute with some big returns just to stay in the game.
The Steelers have showcased one of the most dominant defenses ever seen through four games, and figure to be even more effective coming out of a bye week. Pittsburgh has had no part of opposing ground attacks, limiting the opposition to just 62.3 yards per game. The Steelers linebackers are as scary as ever as Lawrence Timmons leads the team in tackles with 48 and James Harrison leads in forced fumbles with three. Troy Polamalu has managed to remain healthy through four games and has been the key to elevating this defense to the next level in year's past. On offense, the team has survived a rotating cast of QB's as Rashard Mendenhall is averaging 4.6 yards per carry and Hines Ward leads the team in receptions with 12. There is the possibility that the Steelers may not click automatically with Big Ben re-entering the offense but the bye week of reps should certainly help that cause. Mike Tomlin has expressed great confidence in Ben's ability to transition back in without issue.
Heinz Field offers the Steelers a tremendous home field advantage and the possibility that rookie quarterback Colt McCoy could be making his first start makes the prospect of a bloodbath even more possible. While 14 points is a hefty spread for a divisional game, I don't project that the line is a trap as the Browns just don't have the playmakers to make a game of it here. The only chance the Browns have of covering in my opinion is if it rains in Pittsburgh, slowing the game down to the point that the only place the Steelers don't complete the blowout is on the scoreboard. The University of Pittsburgh will be on the road at Syracuse this weekend which eliminates another variable for field conditions forcing a low score and a difficult cover.

love the over here. big ben will get a score or two. may give up one. steelers d can easily get a couple of scores. i think the line is right on just because i think the steelers will win by dd's, but afraid of the backdoor. pitt is known for blowing spreads and keeping games closer than they should be. so im gonna play a 2-team teaser steelers -6.5 and over 30.5. and over 37.5...gl all

wish worthlessburger wasnt starting would rather have batch. however, with mccoys first start @ the steelers, YIKES, not to mention that boy is short. yah he was great in college but this is a different level of play. i have a feeling if mccoy stays in the whole game hes going to give a brand new meaning to the color of his uniform, when he craps himself from being sacked so much also look for a pick 6 or two as he tries to make something happen out of nothin. stealers -13.5, no feeling on the total as i dont have a feeling how much or little the browns will even get on the board.

I think people defending McCoy are missing the point. I like McCoy and am a huge Texas fan. And personally saw countless games firsthand with McCoy at helm. I'm not saying he can't be effective in the NFL...but this spot is a perfect storm.
This is the exact week Pitt begins to open up their offense with a QB who can make the reads and throws to do so...which backs the defense off the running game and that will open up more too.
The crowd is nuts waiting for today. And at same time Cleveland has to shrink playbook to keep McCoy from big mistakes. So he will be given a ton of dump-offs, quick-throws, etc to build confidence. Problem is Pitt is WAY too fast for all that.
Clev just will not move the ball in this game. And a banged up RB against the best run def in the league in their own house??? Like I said earlier the Pitt front 7 will pin their ears and hunt McCoy like mad. Knowing he won't test the, downfield much. As Cleveland knows if they take shots downfield it could spin way out of control immediately.
Any other day Cleveland looks attractive with all those points. But with this the FIRST time Colt has seen NFL intensity in a reg season game and against this defense. This will not be pretty. And if Colt does well I'll be very proud of him. If not, it's what is expected from any rookie QB in this spot with no supporting cast...not a knock on him personally.
