Denver at New England (01/14/2012)

New England's "worst defense in the league" is a misconception. They have given up 342 points...Seventh worst in the league.

 The misconception is understandable since NE seems to fall behind very quickly. (I've seen quite a few of these games, seems like all of them when you're backing them.)

Then, Coach B makes halftime adjustments and neutralizes the opponent's offense. I think the NE DBs are terrible, but, be careful. I've been fooled many times by that  supposed, "worst defense in the league."

The Broncos will certainly not be intimidated by NE. It seems likely that the Broncos could have a late-game cover.

The Pats had 7 games this year where they would have covered the -13.5 pts.  At Miami by 14, vs SD by 14, @ Jets by 21, vs KC by 31, @ Philly by 18, @ Denver by 18  and vs Buffalo by 28.   Thats almost 50% of their games.  I know this is a different season come playoffs but i will take my chances that they make this number 8. 

There are a lot better teams left in this Tournament than NE.

Weather calls for partly cloudy with a high of 35 - so that shouldn't really be a factor...........

My prediction - for what it's worth:

Broncos will be up 24-0 at halftime, the the Pats will wake up (as usual) and will win the game 43-30.............

I'll take the Tebows +2 TD's and the over 50.5

    If any team & coach "LOVE" running up the score, it's Bellichick & Brady. Denver's defense is not that good either, and can't picture Tebow in a shootout with Brady. For the Broncos, it was a nice run while it lasted. NE is clearly the better team here. While I had to eat my words LW, watching an injury ravaged Steeler team flame out, such will not be remotely the case this week.  The Bronco backer took my money, and now I come to get it back, & then some!

You need to stop sipping on Tebow's kool-aid for a second here brah. All of this tebow hype is getting out of control. Great win last week granted but this game will be on the road with temperatures in the Teens vs Satan himself Tom Brady. Also, injuries to 2 of Pitt's starting d-lineman at the end of the 1st quarter gave Tebow ample time to be able to throw the ball downfield for "30 a pop". I am not saying Denver can not win this game but I am saying it is highly unlikely. Belicheck will mimick the defensive gameplans of the Chiefs, Raiders, etc who were able to shut Tebow down for mostly 4 quarters and the offense will do enough to win this by at least 10 points IMO. Also, the addition of McDaniels will help the New England team as a whole as he drafted most of the young players who are starting on both sides of the ball for the Broncos. Expect an A+ gameplan from Belicheck and the gang.

In the first round of the playoffs, the favorites win about 80% of the time.  This year, all the favorites won except Pittsburgh.  With that being said, in the second round, the underdogs win more than half of the game because they have already played one game and the first round bye teams come in with a few weeks off and their opponents already have played a game and got their confidence up.  With that being said, this week i am going to take all the underdogs EXCEPT the Saints.  The Saints have too much on Offense for San Fran to handle, yes i know thier defense is tops in the league, but the NFL is turned to a passing league now and Brees will prove my point this week.  For San Fran to win this game, they will have to put up atleast 28 points, and who really actually thinks Alex Smith is capable of that?? I sure as hell dont.  As far as the other game go, ill take the rest of the underdogs..  Houston can stop the run, an thats key because we all know Flacco chokes in the playoffs just like Matt Ryan does, so if houston can stop the run, cuz Ray Rice is the only reason they win, Houston should def. cover 8 points.  The Giants D is coming up big late an have all the momentum, 8 pts there is too much in my opinion again, and i dont care that Tebows throws under 50%, he makes plays and New England's D... well you know how they are... Awful.  So ill take the 3 underdogs and the Saints as the only favorite this weekend,  Good Luck everyone

With Denvers high power offense. I would have to take the Broncos here they are probably going to put up 30+ points. Pats are giong to rely on their Number 2 defense in the league but they arent going to stop the broncos explosivness. Pats are hands down the best D in the league but the Pats offense is just too slow scoring Pats will need a miracle the Line makers on this one must have been high have to take Denver and 13.5 should be a blow out.

NE's defense has given up 21 pts per game  which is only 5-7 pts more than the three best defenses in the NFL. Bend but don't break is the cliche. They can give up 21-24 to denver but may score 47. Especially in the second half after they make their usual changes. Belichick and Brady are the masters of second half tweaking and who covers Gronkowski for Denver?????

This game and line is a joke. Trailed Buffalo 21-0 and win by 30?? Come on, the line should be 22 or 23.

 I think the D will show up and the offense will put a lot of points. Final Ne 38-10        

       Agreed , i believe the patriots are well prepared and will send the safeties back and clog the middle of the field allowing the run game to succeed for denver , something that the steelers did not do and payed for , i really think denver keeps this one within reach but i would be shocked if they won it outright i will take the + 13. 5 in hopes tebow and company will have a good run game and limit Brady to seeing the field as much as possible   Patriots 31-20

Vue I couldn't agree with you more---Hooray for Denver ( good offrnsive play calling coupled with a dose of luck and confidence against a beat-up Steelers team at home and there you have it.Now against a hurt N.E. defense on their own turf with a healthy Brady and never say die Belichek , it may be close for a bit but once the Pats put the pedal to the metal and go lights out against Denver,those who took N.E. and the over will be counting their moola . Denver straight up win. Last week made Tebow realize that he can trust his instincts. Ask yourself, is NE Pats "D" as good as the Steelers? Case in point.
