Of course there is no replacement that will live up to him, only the next era, which is Rodgers.
I am no big fan of Rodgers but in his preseason games, he does well.  3 Years behind a legend and the GB franchise made him their star QB.  He must be worthy of something in the eyes of the coaching staff.

Tavaris Jackson is great too and I hate Adrian (hate betting against him).  But theres a couple of keything I can't get out of my head.

1. Min sucks on pass D but great on run D
2. GB is still a very good team on off (grant on the ground and by air is questionable.  They got the WR's, can the QB connect?)
3. Min off will focus on run first with peterson and then throw.  GB def is good in both areas last year.

I look at it and it comes down too:
Can Peterson be effective enough to spread out the GB def for Tavaris to pick them off in the air game?  Or it can be a scoring game with each team scoring because Minn can't stop the WR and GB can't control Peterson.

My money is on GB and their Def.  I hope they can limit Peterson a bit since he was a hell of a rookie, he will be a great great RB sooner or later, I just hope not this game.  If GB Def doesn't hold him, I have some what of back up that GB can still score on them through the Air.

Vike's win an UGLY game.... I have a feeling this is going to be a game with many turnovers.... vikes defense is tough... so i GB's though, either team is going to have a good offensive game.... I think that these 2 teams will grind it out..... and with minn having the better 2 running backs, they'll will win the possession and field position battle.... only way to beat Vike's D is with a great aerial show.... these 2 teams Always play eachother tough, look for another dirty game.... I'll take the dog on the road

Peterson is definitely the key to the Vikings offense.  That said, I looked for Taylor and Jones-Drew to 'go off' yesterday, and that tandem played one of the, if not THE worst game(s) of their collective career.  I don't see the same thing happening again.

Made even less likely by the fact that Peterson is likely the best back in the league, and the Packers don't have the same caliber D-line as do the Titans.

I have faith in the Vikings secondary.  The MIN pass-rush should be able to hurry Rogers and force some timely turnovers (i.e. interceptions).  This is a rivalry and these clubs always seem to play one another very closely.

The Vikings know they only have a handful of seasons (if they're lucky) where Peterson will be in his prime.  They have to feel that 'GB had their chance, and this season is *their* time'.

After that shellacking the Colts took, the arguement of "the Packers won't lose their home opener . . . NO WAY" is definitely out the window.  Enjoy the game though.  Cheers.

I believe jared allen will give Rodger alot of pressure!!!

Vikings should win this game... they are a significantly better team, and a legit super bowl contender... the Packers are not... bet on the more focused team... they win outright!

Greenbay has something to prove in this game! They will come out fired up and Rogers has been waiting for week 1 since last season. I believe Greenbay wins by 10. The Vikes will not be as motivated because they have nothing to prove. They are supposed to be one of the top teams in the NFC (according to the experts). So you have a team that has something to prove and a team that is already being put in the playoffs (maybe not to that extent but try to see where I am comming from). Greenbay has nothing to lose in my eyes and the Vikes have nothing to gain. Reminds me a lot of the SB with the Giants having nothing to lose. Also I believe AP will have his sophomore slump and will "struggle" compared to last season. He will still be a solid RB but I believe the expectations are way to high. Just look at history of good rookie rb's, most are not that much more productive if at all the following season, some even end up as back ups. I see him have a solid year but nothing like people expect. Greenbay will play the run and play man coverage on the outside. The only way Minn wins is if Jackson can stretch the D (GOOD LUCK).

The post-Favre era takes center stage on Monday Night Football's early game. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers look to put Favre, and his 17 seasons as the face of the Packers, behind them with a victory over the Vikings. This team still has high expectations, despite the departure of their Hall of Fame QB, thanks to a strong defense and surprisingly strong running game with the emergence of Ryan Grant in the second half of last season. The Vikings are similar in several ways in that they have a very tough defense and very strong ground game. As a result, this game will probably come down to which QB plays better. The underdog is 23-9 ATS the past 32 games in this series. Thirteen of Green Bay's seventeen games last season went OVER the total.

  GREEN BAY has a mountain of pressure at their backs, for this game.  Nat'l televised home-opener.  Without Favre under center, for the first time in two decades.  'No pressure'?  You may want to reconsider this train of thought.

The Vikings have expectations, no question.  A Super ring would be nice, to be certain.  But right now.  Tonight.  All any Vikings fan worth their salk, cares about; is BEATING THE PACKERS.  I believe the Vikings are going to be focused, but also very aware that the lion's share of the pressure is on the home team. 

P.S.  Whichever amount of pressure a team feels, probably doesn't immanate from what those prognosticators do or don't say.

I also like vikings and under 1st half as the QB's on both sides need to get used to playing in regular games and get the nerves calmed.  expecting alot of running and this should be good for vikes!!!

If the vikings arent pissed that they blew playoff chances last year (not unlike the browns) then I dont know what other motivation they need.  Rodgers will try to make a showing.......like the Vikes chances to take a W........kinda of liking the over too. Reason being, both offenses are going to want to prove themselves.

I never said anything about Green Bay not being under pressure. I was actually saying the opposite. Green Bay is under pressure and have been looking forward to week 1 to prove to everyone that Favre was not the whole team. They will use the "us against the world" outlook that the Vikings cant use because everyone has high expectations for them this year.

I dont see how that translates into motivation. Everyone is picking them to make it to the playoffs. They dont have the "us against the world" attitude. Every team is motivated but only few really have that chip on there shoulder where they want to prove something.

its just seems too damn easy to take the vikes here....w/e it seemed way too easy to take dallas and pitt but i did it anyway and i'm doing it again what the hell its only money. vikes straight up gl all and enjoy the game
