NYG to suffer from "terrible defeat" syndrome. Hoping to get line closer to pick em...then GB large.

Agreed...the Philly loss had to suck some life out of the Giants.  GB at home, Rodgers back...liking the Packers here.   Still feel this GB team is dangerous, if they get in the playoffs, lookout NFC.  They will give any NFC playoff team a real battle.  Aside from the Bears, who have offensive questions IMO...most top NFC teams lack a stout defense like the Packers are capable of.

I dont know if Rodgers can still play with the big boys.  NYG by a margin.

Packers can't run the ball, Rogers coming off an concussion, one good hit and he's gone for the year including the playoffs. Giants play better on the road.

Giants have a defense! They lead the NFL in sacks, GB is right behind them. Eli has only been sacked 15 times. GB is 1st in scoring "D" NYGs are 5th.

"suck some life out" you don't think NE did that to GB? We'll get a good picture of who's for real and who's not Sunday.

NYG +3 (4units): my tournament life now rests on the arms of Eli, or is that the Play Book of Eli? I'm playing the 'let-down after a big emotional loss angle". The Packs emotional loss to New England will be hard to bounce back from, IMO. Eli's players-only meeting this week should get them the bounce back game here after their 4th quarter melt-down last week. SCORE: Giants 24-Packers 14

If Rodgers plays I think the Packers will win. It's do or die time for the Pack. Green Bay will win by 3 to 7 points.

Packers will be one of the better teams left out of the playoffs. Giants rebound after meltdown. The Packers are a false favorite. Teams laying points after two or more consecutive losses generally don't cover. Mike McCarthy is 2-4 against the spread in this situation.

Green Bay is a home favorite after having just lost two road games in a row. Teams in this dynamic are 31-49 ATS since 2002.

Not sure losing to NE with Matt Flynn at QB sucked any life from the Pack.  In contrast I think losing within 3 was almost a moral victory as they were expected to fall flat on their faces starting a backup vs. arguably the hottest team in the NFL. 

As for the comment about most top NFC teams the Pack could face in the playoffs lacking a strong defense...I excluded the NYG purposely as the loser of this game is likely out of the dance.  And if the Pack is facing NFC teams in the playoffs that would mean they made it and NYG weren't a possible opponent.  But I will grant you all the NYG have a very stout defense with great pressure and this game will be a battle.  IMO, the Pack at home will come out with the win with their leader back, and the Giants coming off a punch in the gut from Philly.

I DON'T!!

GB didn't just lose a last second heart breaker - at home- to a division rival-in a game they had complete control of.

the two aren't even close....

if anything they would have some extra life...having gone on the road and played the best team in the NFL, down to the wire with a QB making his first start!!

That's something to build on and feel good about

Nail on the head.  Those two losses aren't even remotely similar.  At the end of Pack game, most people said 'wow, they almost pulled that one off with the backup'.  End of Giants game, most said 'Wtf was that?   How did they just completely fall apart and blow a huge lead in this monster divisional game?  Not to mention make the bonehead play of the year kicking to the guy on the last play.'

Giants can preach being okay all they want during the week, but that loss also reaches the subconscious.  And trust me, most football players that watch their team crumble are pointing fingers at teammates in their mind.   And the coach went apeshit on the punter in public.  Games like that cause turbulence. 

On the Packers side it's more of a feeling of 'we almost beat the arguable best team in the league on the road with a backup.  At full strength at our house we can win any game.'  Confidence levels are not the same regardless of what players and coaches tell the media.  The energy isn't the same and when you're on the road against Packers the fans energy level is high for the home team.  If the Pack get up early, could be real bad news for NYG.  Best thing Giants can do is to score first time they touch the ball.  And I see that unlikely with the Pack D at home. 

BTW...for those who claim the Giants have a higher ranked defense..check the scoring defense, which is the only one that really matters.  Packers are almost 5 points better a game.  Fewer yards is great and all, but points are what wins/loses games.

O.K. - for everybody trying to compare last week's Packers loss vs. last week's Giants loss and trying to parlay that info for this week's game, here's the difference:
The Packers were playing their second road game in a row with their backup QB at the helm, in Gillette Stadium, against the Patriots & Tom Brady - who haven't lost a regular season home game since I don't know when. And they still only lost by 4 points - so I don't know where the "suck some life out of" letdown factor is for the Packers.

Now, we all saw what happened at the end of the Giants/Philly game, right? Do I even need to go into it? Plus, Green Bay's defense is a lot better than Philly's, and it's gonna be coooooold, and snowy, and in Lambeau, with basically the winner moving on - no way the Giants will rattle off 31 like they did last week.

My prediction - Eli throws 3 picks, the third one being late in the third quarter - and we get a nice "DUHHH"!!! close up on his gashead mouth breathing face as he looks to the sideline after that third pick that Charles Woodson returns to the house.

but wait, what's this? somehow the Giants come back late in the fourth and tie the game up - now it's 4th and 6 and the Giants are on their own 17 yard line. 5 seconds left in the game. Coughlin rests easy, knowing all he has to do is punt the ball out of bounds and we're going into overtime folks.

there's the snap, Matt Dodge has the ball in his hands, and KICKS IT BACKWARDS OVER HIS HEAD!!!! OH NOOOOOOO!!!! He rushes back to cover it, but it's in the endzone!!!! Packers win by a safety!!!! OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!!!!

No, really though - wait until Sunday - A-Rod plays, take the Packers -2.5 - - if he doesn't, then just play the under (44)....

I would not be surprised if Dodge is still shaken from last week and muffs or shanks a couple. This is basically a playoff game and will be fun to watch. Still like GB's defense and AR back at QB.

OT:..looking at the long IR lists of these two teams, I have to agree with most of the players that going to an 18-game schedule will absolutely reduce their longevity in the game and make for a lower quality product on the field. GLTA.

Rogers' head is still Jello, but this is their last shot to make the playoffs so GB is willing to sacrifice him for the good of the team. When you see Rogers go down you're going to have that sinking feeling, it's over along with your money.

NE the best team in football? They went to the Browns and got crushed. You listen to too many sport talk shows, don't believe the hype.

Where do you think NY is Miami? It was alot colder there when the NFC championship was on the line in GB. GB is by a bay, Giants home base is by a ocean.

Neither team is going to run the ball.  Packers #1 run d will shut down bradshaw and jacobs.  Giants D should have no trouble stopping Jackson/Starks.
SO the question is
Aaron Rodgers vs. Eli Manning..
I like the pack at Lambeau.  Hoping it drops to 2.5
But PACK(-3) in a must win

Who cares. Ever heard of styles make fights? GB may have a better scoring "D" than NY but GB has losses to the Bears, Lions and Redskins, 3 teams that the Giants have beaten. Looks like that scoring defense didn't help much there.

If you could not shutdown these 3 teams and the Giants could that does not bode well for GB. Giants lead the NFL in forced fumbles +8 more than the second place team. That means the Giants will be working with a short field.

I live in Vegas, i see every game.

There is no statistical data to back up this "terrible defeat" syndrom. In fact history shows that good teams blowing a big lead usually bounce back and cover the spread the next week.
