Eagles Super Bowl----Eagles Super Bowl ---- I'm hearing it already.  Maybe it could happen, but I think I have some Missouri
ancestral blood in me,so "Show me" Eagles..
I know one thing, Carolina has lost (ATS) the last 4 home openers as favorites. 3 of those losses were SU. Eagles would love nothing more than to make it 5 (ATS) losses and 4 SU.

well, one good thing is that Vick can't play this game - which is probably good for the Eagles. I gotta go with all the Philly homers on this one.....

I guess the Eagles begin to "show me" right from the get go.
Eagles do pretty well ATS on the road vs Nfc teams, giving 1 point should be no problem here. Andy's birds get off to a flying start.

Vegas set this at Eagles -1 so all of the whales would bet it based on the preseason. Panthers cover at home with a strong outing from Deangelo Williams.

I see defensive problems and offensive line issues for the Eagles. 
I'll take the CAR ml and the Over at 43.5

Panthers were 8-1 @ home last season.
Good teams win games, Great teams cover the spread!

Carolina has major injury issues on D with a starting DT out for the season, Beason hurt, along with several others. Peppers and Gamble are playing like crap right now. The Panthers also have the SB loser curse, meaning history would say they dont even make the playoffs this year.
 
Eagles have a great blitzing D that will be in Jakes face, and McNabb with his plethora of WRs will pass all over this limping D. He will also be motivated by the Vick signing.

Carolina as the home dog is a good value here. You won't see that too often this season. I'll take the Panthers +1.

Be careful with the Eagles.  Full disclosure.. Eagles fan here
 
The play here is the OVER.  As noted above Eagles have 2 big problems.  The most serious is their D.  They are scary....bad scary.  Their LB core is terrible and the new D cord has not settled in yet and believe is somewhat scared of the expectations he has to live up to.  Believe me, I am not a Jake the Snake fan. Highly overrated.  However, I believe their run game is going to give the Eagles fits.  Eagles will get their points with a healthy Westbrook, McCoy and a good core of receivers.  But Carolina will get theirs as well.  The Eagle D of the past is the past.  it will take a few weeks to gel.

Tough call here . I would love to see the Eagles win this game but it will be tough .

Car ML and OVER are the plays here
 
Panthers are my team BUT anytime they are getting points ESP at home take the points. THis is going to be a CAROLINA type football game where they play fundamental football and in tight then sneak out a win. It maybe ugly but they will find a way to stay in the game and capitalize. ALSO love the over because both teams have ? marks on Defense. Lets not forget Dawkins and the MLB is not in this Defense of Philly this year. This can turn into a you score I score kind of game. But I feel with Carolina at home, experience, and caliber players that we have the upper hand and better execution. Im just glad we dont have to see MIKE VICK whewww  good luck to all

THE COVERS.COM NFL FORUM HANDICAPPING CONTEST

 

Anyone can make a pick. Anyone can post it on a website. If you are wrong, no consequences occur. No one ever knows how well or how poor of a handicapper you are. It’s time to put your money where your mouth is.

 

Well, this season for the first time on this forum, I have decided to run a contest which I will personally fund. A grand prize (details of prize given if you join) will be given at the end of the Super Bowl if you win the contest.

 

How to register:

 

Please send an email to dsong23@gmail.com with your full name and User ID you use to post on Covers.com. Registration will be taken until Sunday 13th at 12:59PM EST. Since the grand prize is dependent upon the full name given, please do not sign up for more than 1 account or you will regret it when the prize is given.

 

How to play:

 

Every week, every registered user must post on the appropriate Covers.com game thread their NFL picks against the point spread according to the Las Vegas Hilton betting line ONLY. Each player will be required to place a wager on 2 NFL games at minimum EVERY week and 5 NFL games maximum.

 

How to place your wager:

 

Because of the fluctuation in the betting lines during the week, every wager will be assigned the Hilton spread closest to the time where Covers.com updates their line history page. When making a bet, every registered contestant should send an email to dsong23@gmail.com with the heading “Covers.com Contest – (Your User ID)”. All emails which are not addressed with this heading will NOT be accepted. If you do not bet the minimum of 2 games in a week, you will automatically be removed from the contest the following week.

 

For example: NFL Football – Tennessee @ Pittsburgh on Thursday September 10, 2009

 

If a wager was made and sent to me via email at 9/5/09 at 9:00 PM, that user will receive the Pittsburgh -5.5 line rather than the Pittsburgh -5 line. Unfortunately, this is the fairest way to resolve this issue because I will not always view a user’s pick at the moment in which he/she makes the pick.

 

Every bet is made in a single unit bet. Therefore, you cannot make one game you pick more than a single unit.

 

How to win:

 

There will be one (1) grand prize awarded at the end of the Super Bowl for the person who has the highest winning %. No award will be given for the highest number of wins because some users making 5 bets a week will have a greater advantage for this award. However, in case of a tie, the tiebreaker will be the user with the highest number of wins since it is more difficult to have a higher winning percentage picking 5 games a week than 2 games.
