2 "mirror image" teams going head to head - which way to choose?
Both QB's are "run first", but I think the Panthers have the better passer......
Both "D"'s are stingy, but the Panthers are statistically better - especially against the run.....
49'ers played last week, continue on the road heading East.....
My only concern is, Carolina's not exactly the "media sexy" pick like the 49ers would be, but, if they somehow do make it all the way to the Superbowl, the media could really play up a Steve Smith/Possible Sappy Retirement angle à la Ray Lewis last year.

I'm still leaning 69ers but as usual you're making some solid points. And after reading your post I'm starting to think I may like SF a lil more because I'm much more familiar with them.
Living out west I don't get to watch a ton of PANTHERS games and when I am around for them there is usually a ton of competition for my attention with 10 other games on the go...or I haven't slept yet and I'm not sure what I'm watching.
And conversely when SF is playing it's typically in the afternoon with only a few other contests are underway so I can focus in a lil more.
But you're right on paper these teams are very evenly matched and both top 5 in the power ranking plus CAR gets home-field and an extra week to prepare. So maybe the line value is on CAR since fringe/square bettors may just associate the 9ers with winning in the past although that really doesn't have a ton of relevance on tomorrows tilt.
Either way I'm not going huge on this game but I appreciate the point of view and as always the nice lil pic of the dirty lil pant-shrinkers

And other than that I think the 9 other games in that stat are almost meaningless. Their 2nd most recent meeting was back in 2010 and before that the games were played in 07,04,01,01,00,00 and then 99 and 99 again when Steve Young was still on the 9ers
So maybe you can look at travel and a few other intangibles but the rosters,coaches,brass and organizations overall are virtually completely different so have nothing to do with the outcome of tomorrows game.

I think they said 70% chance of rain.Most likely there will be more running scores as you saw in those two games. But don't expect Frank Gore to turn in a 4 TD performance , but yeah I think both teams should have a little more success running the ball despite great run defenses. If you can't run the ball like the Colts and Saints, no way can you win the game. 49ers have a fighting chance cuz they can run. Rain is running backs best friend but worst enemy if they happen to be fumble-prone...

I think niner's win this game only because they been screwing my bets. Always losing by ATS! GB, ATL, and SEA games! I won't be surprised if Vegas gives them a lift to the Super Bowl . "Oh no she didn't !!!??" Uh, yeah . I just did.

I wasn't impressed by SF win over GB last week. 1 man and a useless D almost beat them. If GB D can make red zone stops on this "oh so deadly" SF read option O imagine the time they will have trouble just moving those chains against Car. SF failed again and again to stop the Pack from catching up and they almost paid for it. Panthers don't have to build up huge leads or high scores to beat teams and they don't let teams mount huge comebacks. Similar to the NO vs Sea you can only count playoff exp for so many points here. Probably 3 the same as home field therefore the pk, but idk.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the RLM earlier in the week a good sign that Car is the smart bet?

Lots of good points being brought up by 49er-backers and rightfully so! They are one of the best teams in the NFL and having Crabtree back is a big deal. I just think these teams are fairly similar, but the cards are stacked for Carolina to pull off a close one.

Needless to say, it's the playoffs and the 49ers are preferred by the public because of last year's near Super Bowl win, and because the Panthers are an unproven commodity in the playoffs. As a gambler, investor, or trader, our goal is to look for value. And in my opinion, the value is with the Panthers at a pick'em. As scary as it feels to bet against Harbaugh and the 49ers, sometimes the harder bet is the right one.
So I'm sticking w Carolina because some of the cardinal rules of situational betting tell me they are the play, and I'm not going to re-invent the wheel just because we are in the playoffs. I hope some of you guys took the under on the Saints/Seahawks and have a free roll for Sunday.
