Thoughts on this week's tournament in Mexico: Looking over the field, the dichotomy between the good (or at least above average players) and the rest of the field is immense. I've not heard of at least half of these guys but I guess that's what happens when the Tour can't keep players and then decides to put this half-assed event on for whatever reason. My issue with it is it can't be well attended and isn't logistically possible for the average American golf fan to go. Then, they've cancelled the (Dell) world match play event in Austin going forward, an entertaining event at a very good golf course. So we have a weekend for this horseshit event in Mexico but we can't find a weekend for a cool event in Austin, Texas for God's sake? Simply put, the PGA Tour needs fresh leadership because the current commish will take them straight down the fucking drain. Jay Monahan is a bust and if a lot of players were honest they'd admit they have zero faith in him.
I digress and feel much better now!
This will be an interesting week as you can either take one of twenty players at 30-1 or less or a long shot that you may have never heard of before. So here goes with some pre-tourney picks:
JJ Spaun to win (90-1 for $35). solid player who was very good in GIR last year; streaky and these are decent odds for a weak field
Patton Kizzere to win (125-1 for $30). Read that he plays well on coastal layouts and so I'll take a shot here
Tyler Duncan to win (125-1 for $35) underrated player and weak field; why not
Carl Yuan to win (125-1 for $33). makes alot of birdies and long off the tee, a plus here
Harry Hall to win (125-1 for $30) played well here last year and makes alot of birdies
CT Pan to win (250-1 for $25) solid tee to green player who hasn't played up to his ability yet in 2024; like these odds
Aaron Baddeley to win (175-1 for $33) great putter, still has a solid all around game, he can still be in the hunt, especially at an event like this
Vincent Norman to win (65-1 for $45) played well here last year, solid scorer and GIR, don't usually like odds under 100-1 pre-tourney but like his chances; bombs it off the tee

Interesting take. I think PGA has tons of great events. There are a handful of these 2nd tier events and that is fine. I am amazed how much golf there is.
I also picked lots of long shots but I guess my research was different because I have almost completely different picks.
BOL. Let us know your added picks.

Staying disciplined here and not adding any other picks until play gets underway and things start to shape up a little. Too much of a crap shoot field to speculate much more. My put $3-5 on some of these guys whose casa is around the corner and they are like a zillion to one to do something good. Read about a couple who have cool stories and worth throwing "I'd pay $x to see a dog piss money" on them.

Can you make a tracked thread specifically for your match ups?
And maybe a tracked thread for your outright winner and just do year by year instead of new threads per event?.

@NEGolfJosh3
Yeah, results should be tracked separately so users on the covers website can follow precisely? Just the results..
It also helps you create a following base people can easily see your results...
I have to back log different threads to see what bets he placed instead of if it was just one thread being updated it would be easier

@ONSLAUGHTBETS
I can confirm dude is legit. Won back to back weekends..yeah that’s probably not sustainable long term but his style is going after long shots then mitigating risks throughout the tournament.
I personally won about 13k so far on golf this year following mostly his picks.
Might name my next kid after him lol.

@onslaughtbets I appreciate the feedback but a couple of things comments. I'm just trying to add some value here and so because I have a career, family, fiends, hobbies, etc. this is the easiest way for me to track my contributions. I'll do a thread each week, people can read if they want, tail if they want, etc. but the purpose of posting after being a lot more active here years ago, then going away for a long time is simply to 1) contribute and hopefully help people make some money and 2) keep myself very focused on gold wagering because I've historically been good at it but I blow a lot of money playing on other sports. I'm a lot less streaky on golf than anything else, I watch gol a lot, go to tournaments, know a handful of people "in the industry" so to speak and have several friends who are like myself and can bounce intel/ideas off them. In other words, I'm not here with any alterior motives....just trying to be a good dude sharing some ideas. Used to run a golf contest here that was pretty fun and popular so my history speaks for itself when it comes to the "why." Not saying you're questioning that at all, just trying to help you understand where I'm coming from.

Week to week, if I take 6-8 long shots before things tee off, getting to the weekend with 2-3 in contention is a win. They are all going to be long to real long shots pre-tournament and expectations aren't very high on any of them in reality but they don't cost much either so it's a way for me to buy cheap early....then once the weekend comes and things start to shape up, I get more focused and strategic, especially on Saturday for where I want to focus my money.
Badds, Norman, Kizzere and Hall all with decent first rounds and hanging in there so far. A good Friday out of all four of them would be a bonus!

I added Baddeley too. He is striking it well and then putting seems to give him a big edge on these greens.
What happened to Vegas man? I put him in my t10 parlays and that is hurting.
