Covers Golf Contest 2015

It's that time of year again boys. 

We will be starting with the Sony Open in Hawaii and going 32 weeks this year through the Wyndham Championships in August.

The playoffs will run concurrently with the FedEx Cup Playoffs running with the Barclays through the Tour Championship.

I am strongly considering bumping it down to ONE GOLFER selection per week with the added schedule.  I will leave it to an overall vote on this thread.  I think it will put a little more pressure on the weekly picks as well. 

I will more than likely bump up the missed weeks elimination to 8 missed weeks or 25% of the season.

Another change this year will be that there will be EIGHT double points weeks.  We will keep the usual 4 majors as double points (Masters, US Open, British Open, PGA Champ) and add in the 3 WGC events (Cadillac, Match Play, and Bridgestone) as well as the 5th major the PLAYERS Championship. 

The number of players we have in the playoffs will be based on the overall season participation.  We had 24 players make it through the entire season last year...and I want to get that number up to 30 or so.  Tell friends...recruit...whatever you gotta do!!

I will keep the weekly winner bonuses the same.  If you pick the winner of the tournament you will receiver a -10 from his finishing score.  If you pick the winner of a double points week it will be a -20 obviously...also considering making it so that you get an automatic invitation to the playoffs...but will take suggestions on that.

As far as making the weekly picks...you have until the last golfer tees off for the week.  Once the last golfer has teed off for the tournament, the contest is closed for the week.

If your selected golfer misses the cut, is disqualified, withdraws, or makes the cut and does not finish...you will receive a +5 from the worst finishing score for the week. 

The good news is that with the ONE golfer selection this year you will be able to avoid the infamous double missed cut in the double points weeks like last year.

MOST IMPORTANTLY IS THAT I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS FROM ALL YOU GUYS ABOUT HOW TO MAKE THIS CONTEST BETTER.  PLEASE VOICE WHATEVER YOU THINK WOULD MAKE THIS THE BEST DAMN CONTEST ON THIS SITE. 

JOHNNY_ODAE did a fantastic winners package last year for our champion Clepto...and I think we can get a bunch of guys this year that would gladly chip in money or gifts for the yearly champion.

I'm still leaning towards the 1 golfer selection so that it's easier to track for everyone....64 golfers from 30+ entries gets a bit much.

Not sure what you mean by the results from the playoff weeks?  Last year we had the regular season finish determine the overall seed.

I meant that the playoff weeks will count towards that seed... lets say no. 5 seed (+5) scores -10 in 1st PO round and no, 4 (+4) scores -6

So the playoffs would be aggregate score. 

It's a possibility

I kind of liked the 2 golfers.  I know it's a lot to keep track of, but it adds a lot more strategy to the game. 

My computer skills haven't really improved!!The simpler the better!!! i do like this contest as I am usually laying a few bucks on how it finishes anyway. See you for the Sony!!!

One pick really simplifies things not only for the score keeper but it won't seperate the highly skilled from the average Covers Golf Contest contestant!

I believe we had about 8-10 winning picks last year...it is rare that it happens.

AJ...what I was thinking is that a MC/DNF/DQ/WD would punish you more with one golfer and actually make it more difficult.  With 2 golfers, one missed cut can be wiped out with a stronger finish.

I will play,   Am I correct to assume u can only use a golfer once.

Yes...once you use a golfer for the season you cannot use him again unless it is in the playoffs...where all players are reset.

I like the two golfers.  Like AJ said, it's easy just to pick a top 30 golfer every week.

Everyone can get in on the contest...just want to make sure guys are active the entire year.

Last year a nice winners package was put together for the champion...and that's something that I would really like to continue this year.

I am good with the 1, anything to make it easier on CMJ. Also I agree it does put more pressure on the weekly picks.

Im in, I like the 2 golfer system. See you next week. I'll get the winner a small Champions package as Johnny did for me unless I repeat which is very likely. LOL.
