Hope you all had a fantastic holiday season, and hopefully you all aren't as buried under snow as I am.
With a new year on the calendar, it's time for another version of the greatest contest on the Covers site!!
Probably going to keep a lot of the rules the same as the past couple years as far as double points weeks...pick two players a week...no duplicates allowed...top 16 make playoffs...etc.
Any suggestions are always welcome and we will take everything under consideration!
This year's season will start on January 26th at the Farmers Insurance Open and run 32 weeks until the Wyndham Championship.

interested in participating this season, CMJ. any thread I can reference for the rules & procedures ???
Going to give it a week or two for some suggestions before I post an official one...but I'll start off the list now.
1. Each week you pick two golfers.
2. You cannot duplicate picks during the regular season
3. Each week I'll start a thread and post the expected participants...post your used players and who you are picking for that tournament.
4. You must post your players before they tee off...any picks made after that time won't be allowed.
5. There are 8 double points weeks...the 4 majors, the Players Championship, the WGC events. (Debating between the Match-Play and the Wyndham Championships at the end of the year)
6. If you select a player that misses a cut, withdraws, or does not finish you get 5 strokes worse than the last place finisher.
7. Playoffs run concurrent with the FedEx Cup playoffs 4 events. Exact rules on the playoffs are usually decided during the season, but last year the top 16 made it and we reset the scores based on the regular season standings.
That's about all of it...like I said, I'll post everything when the season is closer.

I have one suggestion that might spice things up . What if we do a multiplier bonus. Each player gets three strikes XXX ... we pick 3 separate times throughout the year . And for that week the multiplier player receives a bonus of 5x the score. So if someone is far back they have a shot to gain some ground . I feel 3 strikes is a great amount meaning we would have to choose them wisely . And we can use any golfer even if picked in prior weeks for the regular scoring segment we can not use the same golfer multiple times for the bonus so each strike will need to be a golfer not used from the prior strike . This is just a little something different to throw out there. Feel free to chime in .

I'm all for bonuses and being able to bring the scores up and make it a ton more competitive, but I'm already putting in a solid amount of time in the spreadsheets keeping everyone's scores accurate....let's hear some more great ideas!!

Everyone usually copies and pastes week by week what if the top line is the multiplier line .. and it shows how many left and who they chose .. example
Season multiplier : first strike- Jason day waste management- 2nd strike - Jordan spieth John deer classic - and so fourth
The week they use it you will know since it will be third golfer chosen with it stated -Jason day 5x

And it can be easily seen when you do overall standings week by week . you can put an X after each use so it can be easily tracked like :
Sairjordan23 -48 XX
CmJohnson1 -32 X
If its too confusing or hard to track I understand, just throwing stuff out there. Even if it is a one time use for easy tracking that would be cool . Just something different.

Yeah that would be interesting, but with picking 64 players throughout the season, and then 6 more before the Tour Championship, I wouldn't want to see a scenario where someone is essentially forced to take limited people at the end because there is only 30 entrants.

Ahhhh....got it.

I'm taking all these considerations in...some really good ones.
Leaning towards using a player twice before the playoffs, but the second time is automatic double points.
I'm going to chime in here with my opinion. I think this is complicating a contest that is damn near perfect. I love the simplicity of the contest as is. You get to pick a golfer once per year...that's it. You have the double points tourneys to get back in it.
Adding the thing about getting to use a guy twice and the second time is double points gives people a chance to get back in it when they've sucked all year. Seems amateurish. Two years ago I missed the final 16 and I deserved it because my picks were garbage all year.
It's easy to over-tweak contests and leagues because each year you want to improve things, but sometimes the league is great the way it is, and I think this league is great the way it is.
I think consistency is more important than a gimmicky tweak this year.
My 2 cents.
