This is in my backyard. I surf down the cliff at Blacks Beach daily. The surf, weather, and golf will be phenomenal this week. Enjoy the show! Funny you mention Jon. My girlfriend is Phil Mickelson's hair dresser and she asked him yesterday who he likes this weekend and he responded "Me, but if not me than Jon Rahm". So yeah maybe I'll see how he does today and maybe add him in after Rd 1 at better value if he slips a little down the leader board.
I cruise up to San Clemente to surf Trestles quite frequently in the summer months. I have followed the pro surf tour my entire life and know Pat very well. My first international surf trip was to Costa Rica in 94, shortly after Endless Summer 2 was released. Witches Rock and Ollie's Point surf breaks were on many a surfers 'bucket lists' after seeing that movie. I highly recommend the surfing documentary "Momentum Generation" which includes Pat, Kelly Slater and their tight knit group of buddies growing up surfing on Hawaii's North Shore. It's a great story and can be found on HBO plus and probably Netflix too.

That's pretty awesome. I think Pat is funny. The goofy funny type. But yea, I'm originally from Hawaii and I remember seeing those guys at North Shore. It was always nice just watching those guy tear it up, especially during the triple crown. I followed Sunny Garcia, well you know, cause he's the local guy. But all the surfers being there was like seeing a hall of fame in water. Good times.

What a lot of people don't realize is most of the world's best surfers are also great golfers, and are also good friends with quite a few top PGA pro's. The two sports are very similar believe it or not. Kelly Slater (the GOAT of surfing) could actually give quite a few of these guys a run for their money on the course. And he always plays well at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Absolutely stoked to have two pics tied for the lead headed into the final day, but... Rahms only one stroke back and usually turns it up a notch on finals day so not feeling overly confident just yet. I'm heading to the tournament tomorrow to cheer on my mate Day. There's gonna be one heck of a party tomorrow night at Monarch Del Mar if he somehow pulls this off. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oy Oy Oy!
