5Dimes opens with Watney to win at +170 -- looks to be some solid value in this to me. Thoughts?

Well there sure is some value there. No one really battle tested chasing other than Furyk.  Kaymer is a threat.

Keep waiting for this course to beat the boys up a bit. A bit too manageable for a major for my liking.

It's a PGA, there isn't really much a test when it comes to their course setup...

Watney looks solid but he made a boat load of putts today and hit a few poor drives and got lucky on his lies.  Johnson, Kaymer, Liang and McIlroy all played fantastic as well which scares me because I don't think these guys are at the stage of their careers to play two solid rounds on the weekend in a major while in contention.

I'm going to through $100 down on Watney at those odds because I just don't see the other guys putting pressure on him early and even so, him getting rattled.

Very good wager at those numbers.

50/50 to me and +170 is great value.

McIlroy won earlier by going very low on Sun. Could very well do it again. Johnson will look to avenge meltdown in US Open.

The one thing I like about Watney is his screwups aren't that wayward. With a 3 shot lead it will take a 66 or 67 to beat him. At +170 I like my chances.

I have him to win at 35-1 and hope Watney falls backwards as well as everyone else

first of all was it me or was the cbs coverage yesterday shiit. kept showing every shot of tigers. hes not in contention, get over it. i wanna see guys on the top of the leaderboards approach shots not just the putt for birdie. 

watney (2.65) - putted like a demon yesterday but did leak a few drives. will be had to beat if he can make the same starts he has made the last 3 rounds by making birdies before his first bogey.

mcilroy (4.5) - made some 4 great up n downs for par. i think he is the only challenger to watney and his aggression is a risk/reward game.hopefully the first.

johnson (6.6) - as i said before if this guy had a half decent short iron/wedge game he would be leading now. dont even get me started on his putting. just shocking. get the flat stick hot.

kaymer (12.6) - had numerous puts that just did not fall in. has the game but have seen him fall away a number of times when in contention on sunday on the euro tour.

have watney and johnson at 70s so im just biased but will be laying these off.

I dont think Watney wins this today, I might be bias cause I need D Johnson to win it but I cant imagine Watney matches his brilliant round of 66.  He hit so many great approaches and rolled several putts in which I dont believe he can do today.  I truly think we will see a playoff today.  So many guys within 5 strokes and many of them are strong players, Watney will feel some pressure today and come back to the pack.  Everytime he birdied yesterday he had this smirk or smile as if to say "wow i cant believe im playing this well".  This will be a great final round, enjoy fellas.

 

I wish they had a prop on if there will be a playoff, i cant find one on 5dimes

but he doesn't have the match his round of 66. If he shoots a 69 with a three shot lead then McIlroy or Johnson would have to shoot a 66 just to tie him. As long as he doesn't pull a Johnson and start yanking his tee shots all over the place, then he has a very good chance.

I know he doesnt but any of these guys 3 shots back or even 4 can cut into his lead and then pressure mounts for all of them.  Just as everyone thought Kuchar had a great shot at winning this tourny after rd 2, now he is a non factor, and we cant foget D Johnson's collapse at Pebble.  I believe we see a 3 or 4 man playoff by days end.

yep, he just needs to talk to Louis Oosthuizen about how to hold onto the lead. Trust me I lost money expecting him to collapse. As I mentioned in another thread and back when it was going on, I had Louis in the field to win $500. But I took the guy right behind him in a matchup Casey over Louis for $500 and Louis never faded, while Casey did. I guess we will know if he has the nerves to hold on around 7:30pm tonight.

well the post was assuming you can put 1 and 1 together. 1 when did Louis have a lead that he needed to hold onto in the first round? The British Open. What is the British Open? A Major. What are we playing today? The PGA. What is that? A Major. It's assuming also that you follow golf, which if you did, then you would know around a month ago Louis Oosthuizen had a lead going into the final round and held on. Hence my comment that maybe Nick Watney needs to talk to Louis. Any questions?

Easy scoring conditions yesterday, but not today. I don't think Watney shoots anything close to a 66 or holds on to the lead.

McIlroy or Day pulls it off...

I don't say this much but I hope you are wrong today. I have a crapload on Watney. I do have futures on some of the others at the top, but I have a lot more on Watney.
