well I&#x27;ll be damned. starting a thread actually WORKED with the old format. I HOPE Covers now has tech sh!t straight once again NO Euro Tour "top guns" like McIlroy, Garcia, Fleetwood, Hatton,  Frittelli,  Pieters, Noren, Aphibarnrat, Cabrera Bello or Wiesberger who are all playing the Honda PGA event. last years winner Jeunghun Wang [-17]favorites are Thorbjorn Olesen @15-1 with Andy Sullivan, last years winner Jeunghun Wang , last weeks 2nd in Oman Chris Wood and Julian Suri all @ 20-1I am NOT fooling with ANY tourney match plays because I have been cold as ice lately. DID "sprinkle" on these "to win" betsShubhankar Sharma @ 28-1. OK Sharma seems to NOT like the desert and was a CUT last week in Oman BUT I will give him one more chance at these oddsEric van Rooyen 50-1. 2nd @ Joburg Open [-20] and T-20th SA Open [-9] his last two. somewhat surprised he did NOT play Oman last week. T-3rd there in the Challenge Tour Final last year [-12]Julien Guerrier 60-1. another Challenge Tour graduate doing well. 3rd in Oman last week [-13] and looked good doing it. two Challenge Tour wins and eight top 10 finish last seasonPhachara Khongwatnai @ 80-1. well watching the re-run of the first round I really did NOT see any great "wind advantage" for the early players like you usually get in Qatar BUT the early tee times are at the top of the leader board. bunch of "cats & dogs" leading right now [-7] with some more @ [-6]

I was getting a hard on scoreboard watching my boy Kong last night. was [-6] thru his first 16 holes and I figured he just might finish [-7] or better BUT the little sh!t BOGIES both the par 3 #17 AND the par 5 #18 to finish [-4] NOT a "wreck" BUT disappointing

van Rooyen also [-4] after the 1st round with Sharma [-3]. damn Guerrier with a 5 birdie 4 bogie MESS of a [-1]

stayed up last night watching on Golf Channel. NO wind for a second day in a row made for wicked LOW scoring and the CUT came in @ [-4]. three of my plays CUTS. Sharma [even] for [-3] (he definitely does NOT like playing in the desert), Guerrier [-1] for [-2] and Khongwatnai [+3] for [-1] (I think finishing bogie-bogie after "cruising" his first 16 holes his first round blew his mind). BUT Eric van Rooyen in contention with a [-6] for [-10] one behind the leader Adrain Otaegui along with three others. with the low cut just about EVERYONE in the field is STILL in contention and it will come down to WHO can shoot a "bomber" round Saturday or Sunday

btw, the course conditions were pretty "rough". half the greens and their collars were pretty "ratty" with burned out bald spots. said on the Golf Channel that the Euro Tour even sent out an advisory to the players that the course really was NOT in tourney condition. said somehow their water supply got contaminated and it damaged the course

well Saturday ended THIS week for me as Eric van Rooyen "blows up" with a [+4] for tourney [-6] now TEN behind the leaders Eddie Pepperell and Ollie Fisher [-16]. interesting that "invited" player, who does NOT have a Euro Tour card, American Sean Crocker (OWGR #420) in solo 3rd @ [-14] and also "invited" Italian Lorenzo Gagli (OWGR #550) tied 4th with four other @ [-12]

Tshwane Open in Pretoria, South Africa next week although it is also the week for WGC - Mexico Championship in Mexico City and all the "top guns" from the Euro Tour will probably be playing there

AND Eddie Pepperell [-2] for tourney [-18] hold off Ollie Fisher [-1] for [-17] to FINALLY "brake his maiden" after 5 years on the Euro Tour. congratulations to him freeking George Coetzee [-4] for [-14] gets tied for 8th with German Sebastian Heisele
