Season Record 4-5-1
Seattle Redhawks +13.5 Seattle's three-year run as an independent is over, starting a new era of Redhawks basketball. This will be their first season in the Western Athletic Conference, and coach Cameron Dollar already has gotten a head start. In late August, Seattle left for a two-week basketball tour of China. The Redhawks visited Beijing, Fuxin, Qianjiang and Heze. They played five games, winning just once, but earning experience Dollar thinks will pay off down the road. These offseason trips go a long way, especially when playing high level talent. Seattle opened up 87 points against Montana state in a never in doubt ATS winner. They had 19 assists and 51 rebounds in that match. I will be looking at this team early and often this season. This is their first road game and travel from the west edge of the world can be tough. We'll see if we quickly see a sharp road/home dichotomy with this team or just a nice early season ATS gem regardless of venue. |

Northern Iowa -15 We saw a big head fake when this line moved to 13.5 earlier. I jumped it big because this line should be closer to 20 points. Toledo has gotten crushed in both their games to open the season. They do not handle pressure well and N. Iowa can lay the defense, no question about it. Look for this one to get ugly early. Always some good opportunities to lay large chalk this early in the season. Come next month we likely won't look at a double digit favorite for the rest of the season. BOL |

Season Record 3-1
FLORIDA ATLANTIC +6 This is a straight fade of Mississippi State, a group in complete disarray. Their excessive turnover from last year's team and first time head coach Rick Ray from Clemson is still adjusting to life on top. Florida Atlantic meanwhile didn't show us anything special in their opener. Greg Gantt did drop 18 points hitting four three pointers. Look for this to be a close match throughout. Good Luck |

Indiana line dropping, if you like ND st better act fast, if you like the Hoosiers wait until game time, might see some 19.5 flash up.

ND St +21.5 This line is a little crazy, even with the travel and environment Assembly Hall brings. NDST certainly no slouch. Easy for Indiana to overlook this weak squad in the Legends Classic, as they will play Georgia, then the winner of UCLA/Georgetown at the Barclays Center just a week later. |

I think we can expect more of the same this season - a huge home/road dichotomy. Rice hasn't proven he can get these guys up for the big road tests. I will look to get bargains against the Rebels on the road and lay the chalk at Thomas Mack.

Season Record 2-0
Davidson +5.5 De'Mon Brooks (15.7 ppg, 6.2 rpg) and Jake Cohen (14.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg) lead the very talented frontcourt of Davidson which returns its eight top scores and rebounders from a NCAA tourney contender last season that nearly upset Louisville. "We're very lucky that guys play as a team," Wildcats Head Coach Bob McKillop said. "We have four seniors now who have extensive experience. They all four can score for us, so when you have four guys who are your senior leaders and can all score, yet are still unselfish, you have a foundation for a pretty good team." Among those veteran returners are 3 members of the backcourt, each averaging double digit points per game last season. But, look for New Mexico to be overwhelmed especially in the trenches, where the Wildcats hold a distinctive edge. Davidson will need to slow down Kendall Williams, the Lobos leading scorer and All-conference Freshman Honoree last season. Williams however is traditionally a slow-starter in November and won't be in mid-season form. The Lobos have a lot to prove losing Mr. Double-Double post man Drew Gordon (13.7 ppg, 11.1 rpg), the Mountain West tournament MVP, and forward A.J. Har-deman (4.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg) a lock-down defender, to graduation. Davidson will be more than the Lobos had bargained for. Look for Davidson to control the battle in the paint and dominate the rebounding numbers in this game. Take the 5.5 points. |

Kampe is looking forward to a team that, despite the loss of the nation's leading scorer Reggie Hamilton, should be improved. Kampe isn't worried about replacing Hamilton's 26 points per game, but I would be. "A lot of things are circumstantial in this game," Kampe said. "The year before, Reggie averaged 18 on a great team. Now, he's on a team with all those freshmen. He needed to score for us. He was a very efficient scorer. He had the ball in his hands all the time. As a coach that's not something you really want. Now, we've got everybody back but him." Kampe's current team will have an experience edge on last season, when he used three freshmen and two sophomores extensively. Kampe's may have four starters returning, but the guy he wants to talk about first is a newcomer. Providence transfer Duke Mondy (7.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.2 apg, 2.1 spg, in 2010-11), a 6-4 junior, was a top defender for the Friars who led the Big East in steals his sophomore season. He takes over for Hamilton at point guard. "He's got a chance to be the best played I've ever coached," Kampe said. "We're going to replace that great scorer with more of a playmaker, a defender, distributor, facilitator at guard." Mondy prepared himself well for his return to the court. "A tremendous summer," Kampe said. "I am really excited about him. I expect him to average 15, 16 points a game." Mondy is capable. He reached double figures six times in his final season at Providence and scored a career-high 19 against Georgetown. Kampe isn't sure if his team will be able to average 80 points per game. But 6-5 junior guard Travis Bader (15.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg) provides a nice start. "My guess is he's going to be the guy this year who gets us the 22," Kampe said. Put the sell sign up as the Summit is SDSt's to lose. |
